Alan Jackson Gives Fans One Last Special Gift Before Farewell Concert With Song for Wife Denise

Alan Jackson has given fans one more heartfelt surprise before stepping onto the stage for what is expected to be the final full-length concert of his touring career.

Just two days before his farewell show in Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Famer released a new recording of “Still The One,” the 1976 classic originally made famous by Orleans.

For Jackson, the song is not just a cover. It is a love letter to his wife, Denise, and a memory that reaches all the way back to the earliest days of their relationship in Newnan, Georgia.

In a video message, Jackson explained that he first started dating Denise about 50 years ago, when she was a cheerleader at Newnan High School.

He remembered visiting her at a friend’s house one day while she practiced a cheerleading dance routine to “Still The One,” which was a hit that summer.

That simple moment stayed with him for decades. Jackson said he watched her practice that day, and three years later, he married the young woman who would become the center of his life.

Alan and Denise married on December 15, 1979, and their relationship has now stretched across more than four decades of love, family, music, challenges, and memories.

To honor that beginning, Jackson decided to record his own version of “Still The One” with what he called a little country seasoning.

He said he gave the song to Denise for her birthday because, after all these years, she is still the one.

The release comes just before Jackson’s farewell concert, Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

The show marks the end of more than 40 years of touring and carries deep emotional weight for fans who have followed Jackson since the beginning of his career.

The farewell is especially meaningful because Jackson has been living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, an inherited neurological condition that affects balance, coordination, and muscle strength.

Jackson first revealed the diagnosis in 2021, explaining that although the disease is not life-threatening, it has made touring more difficult as it has progressed.

His final concert will feature a major lineup of country stars, including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Cody Johnson, Riley Green, Jon Pardi, and Lee Ann Womack.

Even though Alan Jackson is stepping away from the road, “Still The One” proves his music is not over. Before his final full-length concert, he gave fans a song rooted in the woman who was there before the fame — and a reminder that the love story behind many of his greatest songs is still alive.
