Lionel Richie has made his first public appearance since his recent hospitalization, offering fans an encouraging sign as he prepares to return to the stage. The 77-year-old singer was spotted in Beverly Hills with his girlfriend, Lisa Parigi, appearing relaxed and giving photographers a thumbs-up.
Richie and Parigi attended a party in Beverly Hills on Saturday, September 19, where the legendary performer appeared in good spirits. Dressed casually in a navy jacket, matching pants and white sneakers, Richie acknowledged photographers outside the event and gave them a positive gesture.
The appearance comes less than three weeks after Richie spent three days in a St. Louis hospital following his August 29 concert at The Muny. He checked himself into the hospital after the performance so doctors could conduct tests, with reports at the time citing possible dehydration as well as cardiac-related concerns. Now, his official schedule shows Richie preparing to return to the stage on September 26 in San Francisco for the rescheduled “Sing a Song All Night Long” concert with Earth, Wind & Fire. The Chicago and Columbus dates are also listed for September 30 and October 2, respectively.
That upcoming concert carries an unexpected twist because it is not simply another stop on the original tour schedule. The San Francisco performance is a rescheduled date, making Richie’s return particularly significant after the health-related interruptions that affected several earlier shows.
Beyond the rescheduled tour dates, Richie is also scheduled to return to Las Vegas in October for his “King of Hearts” shows at the Encore Theater at Wynn. Those performances are currently listed for October 14, 16 and 17, with additional November dates also scheduled.
