Riley Green wasted little time creating a memorable moment during his first season as a Coach on “The Voice.” The country star ended up onstage singing with 19-year-old Joe Henley after the young Artist delivered an impressive Blind Audition.
Henley performed Travis Tritt’s country classic “Anymore.” Growing up singing in church and listening to traditional country music, the teenager entered the competition hoping his performance would attract more than one Coach.
That is exactly what happened. Both Green and Kelly Clarkson turned their chairs, immediately creating a battle between the new country Coach and the veteran Coach who has previously found success with country Artists.
Green clearly liked what he heard. After Henley finished singing, he proudly reacted, “That’s my boy right there,” before trying to make a personal connection with the young singer.
Clarkson was not willing to surrender easily. She reminded Henley that she has won “The Voice” with country singers before and argued that he could stand out even more by becoming the major country Artist on her team.
The competition became even more entertaining when Henley admitted he was having trouble looking away from Green. Clarkson jokingly stepped between them and even put on a cowboy hat while continuing her pitch.
Then Green asked Henley about the musicians who had influenced him. Henley mentioned country legends including Keith Whitley, Don Williams and George Strait—but explained that he had not yet named his number-one favorite.
That led to the moment that changed everything. Henley revealed that Green’s own song “My Way” was his favorite, prompting Green to leave his coaching chair and join the teenager onstage for an unexpected duet.
“My Way” was released by Green earlier in 2026. The emotional country song centers on longing for another chance at a relationship, making its stripped-back style a natural fit for an impromptu performance between the two singers.
After singing alongside one of his favorite Artists, Henley faced the decision everyone expected. He expressed his affection for Clarkson but ultimately announced that he was choosing Green as his Coach.
Green was thrilled, saying his experience on “The Voice” was already even more fun than he had expected. He also revealed that his strategy is to collect as many strong country Artists as possible because he believes a country singer has a serious opportunity to succeed this season.
Clarkson could only laugh about losing the battle, admitting Henley had been completely focused on Green. For the 19-year-old, the Blind Audition delivered almost everything he could have hoped for: two chair turns, praise from the Coaches, a spontaneous duet with one of his favorite singers and, ultimately, a place on Team Riley.
