Ferryn and Brinkley Wright made one of the biggest impressions of “The Voice” Season 30 premiere. The sisters from Sevierville, Tennessee, performed Linda Ronstadt’s “When Will I Be Loved” and became the first act of the season to earn a four-chair turn.
Ferryn is 20, while Brinkley was introduced on the show as 17. Their harmonies quickly caught the Coaches’ attention, with Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah turning first. Riley Green and Adam Levine eventually followed, putting all four Coaches into the fight for the sisters.
Their journey toward “The Voice” actually began when they were children. Brinkley revealed that their father built them a little stage at home, complete with a karaoke machine and microphone. The sisters would perform together and pretend they were contestants on the show they would eventually join for real.
Ferryn and Brinkley also come from a place with an extraordinary country-music history. They grew up in Sevierville, Tennessee—the hometown of Dolly Parton—and eventually became full-time performers at Dollywood Resort.
Their connection to Parton went far beyond simply working at her famous East Tennessee destination. Ferryn had the opportunity to perform onstage with Dolly, while both sisters participated in a Dollywood parade involving the country legend. Ferryn described having the chance to be around Parton as an honor.
Ferryn even portrayed Dolly in Dollywood’s “From the Heart” production. The sisters have performed extensively around Dollywood, including appearances at the DreamMore and HeartSong hotels, giving them years of live-performance experience before their national television breakthrough.
Brinkley, meanwhile, has been performing since she was extremely young. According to an earlier performer biography, she had been performing since age four and was introduced as a youth performer at Pigeon Forge’s Country Tonite Theatre when she was just 10. Even then, one of her dreams was to become part of a successful country duo with Ferryn.
“The Voice” is not actually their first experience with a major television singing competition. Ferryn and Brinkley separately auditioned for “American Idol” Season 23 in 2025 because the competition does not accept duos. Both reportedly received Golden Tickets, although their auditions were not shown on television.
The sisters have also started building a recording career together. In late August, they released their first single, “Wrong Girl,” which they co-wrote with Adam Wheeler and former “American Idol” contestant Janelle Arthur. Arthur also produced the track.
All of that experience helped prepare them for their Blind Audition. Queen Latifah praised how naturally their voices sounded together, while Riley Green said their performance reminded him of the traditional country music he heard growing up. Clarkson pointed to her own success coaching Girl Named Tom, the first group to win “The Voice.”
Despite receiving pitches from all four Coaches, Ferryn and Brinkley ultimately chose Team Riley. Green was particularly excited about their harmonies and said having the sisters on his team made him feel he had gained an advantage in the competition.
For Ferryn and Brinkley, their four-chair turn is the latest chapter in a journey that started on a homemade childhood stage. From performing around East Tennessee and Dollywood, meeting and performing around Dolly Parton, auditioning separately for “American Idol” and releasing their own music, the sisters arrived on “The Voice” with much more experience than viewers might initially realize—and Season 30 has now given them their biggest stage yet.
