Witney Carson is shutting down speculation that she wants her Dancing With the Stars journey with Guillermo Rodriguez to end early after viewers closely examined her reaction during another tense elimination.
Carson and Rodriguez found themselves among the final three couples awaiting results on Yacht Rock Night, marking the third consecutive week they had been left standing near the end of the elimination sequence.
That moment became especially emotional when Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart were ultimately sent home.
Some viewers noticed Carson’s serious expression immediately after the result was announced and began speculating that she looked disappointed to have survived rather than relieved.
Carson has now directly addressed those claims — and says viewers were reading the moment incorrectly.
She explained that being one of the last couples called doesn’t necessarily mean they received one of the three lowest combined totals. More importantly, she said those moments are difficult because she knows that while she and Guillermo are about to learn they’re safe, another couple standing beside them is about to have their season end.
According to Carson, the expression viewers saw after Britt and Taylor’s elimination was genuine sadness for the couple leaving. Only afterward does the relief and celebration of surviving another week begin.
Carson made her feelings about continuing with Guillermo especially clear, saying she is “very happy” that they are still in the competition and strongly defending her partner’s place on the show.
She praised Guillermo for refusing to give up despite entering the competition without the dance experience many of his competitors possess. Carson revealed that whenever she sits down to rest during rehearsals, Guillermo often continues practicing the steps by himself.
She emphasized that what viewers see from him on Tuesday nights represents his best effort, saying there is something admirable about a contestant who may not naturally possess all the technical skills but continues putting in the work anyway.
Carson also showed there were no hard feelings surrounding Britt’s departure. After the elimination, she publicly praised Stewart and Hanson’s partnership, describing their journey as ending “WAY TOO SOON” and telling Britt she loved her.
The speculation surrounding Carson has also been tied to her pregnancy, with some viewers wondering whether competing while expecting her third child has made her eager to leave. Carson rejected that suggestion as well, explaining that she knows her physical limits, is following her doctor’s guidance and feels comfortable continuing.
So despite three stressful weeks near the end of the results announcements and another low leaderboard finish, Carson says she isn’t looking for an escape. Quite the opposite: she believes Guillermo deserves his opportunity to keep improving — and she appears ready to continue fighting alongside him for as long as viewers keep them in the ballroom.
