KELLY CLARKSON OPENS UP — She Reveals Why Dating Isn’t a Priority After Brandon Blackstock’s Death

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson has shared a rare and deeply personal update about her dating life, explaining why she has no interest in starting another relationship right now.

The 44-year-old singer opened up about the subject during a recent podcast appearance, saying she is currently single — and genuinely happy with the life she has created for herself and her two children.

Clarkson shares daughter River, 12, and son Remington, 10, with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who died in August 2025 at the age of 48 following a battle with cancer.

Although Clarkson and Blackstock had been divorced since 2022, his death brought another enormous change into their children’s lives.

And that appears to be the biggest reason Clarkson isn’t interested in dating.

She explained that her children have already experienced enough major changes and said she doesn’t want a new relationship to suddenly “rock their boat” while they are adjusting to everything that has happened.

For Clarkson, protecting that stability currently matters more than finding another partner.

She also admitted that her own life finally feels calmer. After years of balancing television, music and parenting, Clarkson said she no longer feels constantly exhausted and has started appreciating the extra time she gets to spend at home.

That includes simple things like cooking with her children, playing games and being present for everyday moments that a demanding television schedule previously made much harder to enjoy.

Her children were also a major reason behind Clarkson’s decision to end The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons. The daytime series concluded in August 2026 as she began shifting more of her attention toward family and other projects.

Clarkson made it clear that being single doesn’t feel like something missing from her life. In fact, she said she loves where she is right now and isn’t willing to sacrifice precious time with her children simply because she feels expected to date.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Clarkson has permanently closed the door on love. But for now, her priorities are clear: giving River and Remington stability, enjoying the quieter life she has worked hard to create, and allowing her family the time they need before introducing another major change.
