‘The Voice’ Fans Have a Lot to Say About Riley Green After His Season 30 Coaching Debut

Riley Green is only a few episodes into his first season as a coach on The Voice, but viewers are already making their feelings known.

The 37-year-old country singer joined The Voice Season 30 alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine and fellow newcomer Queen Latifah, giving the show one of its most varied coaching panels in recent years.

And while Riley entered the competition without the years of Voice experience Kelly and Adam bring to the red chairs, fans say he appears surprisingly comfortable in the role.

Viewers have repeatedly praised Riley’s humor, personality and relaxed chemistry with the other coaches, with some saying his presence has made the Blind Auditions especially entertaining.

That reaction started almost immediately during the Season 30 premiere.

Riley quickly found himself battling Kelly for country singers, while Kelly jokingly complained about just how difficult her new rival was making things for her.

She even teased Riley’s mustache and “Marlboro Man” appeal after watching contestants gravitate toward the country star.

One of Riley’s biggest early victories came with 19-year-old Alabama singer Joe Henley.

Joe performed Travis Tritt’s “Anymore,” earning turns from both Riley and Kelly. But after revealing that he was already a Riley Green fan, Joe ultimately chose Team Riley.

The two then shared an impromptu performance of Riley’s “My Way,” creating one of the memorable moments of the early Blind Auditions.

Riley has also landed several highly sought-after contestants.

Sisters Ferryn and Brinkley Wright joined his team after earning a four-chair turn, while Cade Mower also chose Riley after all four coaches turned for his performance of “Something in the Orange.”

Those early wins have only added to the excitement surrounding Team Riley.

Fans online have described Riley as funny, entertaining and easy to watch, while others have already declared their support for his team as the competition moves toward the Battles.

Some viewers are even thinking beyond The Voice.

One fan predicted that Riley could eventually have his own country-focused television show after seeing how naturally he interacts with contestants, coaches and the audience.

There is currently no announcement suggesting such a show is actually happening, but the comment demonstrates how strongly some viewers have responded to Riley’s television personality.

Riley does already have experience outside music, having expanded into acting before joining The Voice, so his move into another major television role represents another step beyond his country career.

His biggest challenge, however, still lies ahead.

The Blind Auditions allow Riley to recruit talented singers, but the Battles will require him to start making much more difficult decisions as members of his own team compete against one another.

For now, though, Riley Green appears to have accomplished something important for a first-time coach: viewers are talking about him almost as much as they are talking about the contestants.

Whether Team Riley ultimately produces the Season 30 champion remains to be seen, but his first weeks in the red chair have already convinced plenty of fans that they would be happy to see more of him on television.
