Kavi Nyx barely had time to settle into her Blind Audition before The Voice coaches began hitting their buttons.
The 17-year-old singer stepped onto the Season 30 stage with Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower,” taking on a song known for its delicate vocals and emotional delivery.
Almost as soon as Kavi sang her opening notes, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine turned their chairs.
It was one of the quickest reactions of the final Blind Auditions, immediately signaling that the teenager had caught the attention of two veteran coaches.
Riley Green soon joined them, turning Kavi’s performance into a three-chair audition and setting up a battle between Kelly, Adam and Riley.
Queen Latifah was unable to join the fight because her team had already been filled earlier in the episode.
Kavi’s performance stood out for more than simply her vocal range.
She added intricate runs and unexpected musical choices throughout “Wildflower,” putting her own identity into a song strongly associated with Billie Eilish’s distinctive style.

Kelly immediately praised that individuality.
She told Kavi that one particular choice she made sounded intentional and beautiful, encouraging her to continue holding onto the qualities that separate her from other singers.
Kelly also identified breath control as an area where she believed she could help Kavi develop even further.
Adam was equally fascinated by the musical decisions in the performance.
He praised Kavi for incorporating sounds and scales that listeners might not normally expect in the song.
That led Kavi to reveal another important detail about her performance: some of those vocal choices were influenced by her Indian heritage.
The revelation gave the coaches a better understanding of why her interpretation sounded so different from the original.
Riley may have turned slightly later than Kelly and Adam, but his praise was just as strong.
He told Kavi that her performance contained some of the most personality he had heard in a vocal during the Blind Auditions.
Riley was particularly impressed that even Kavi’s quieter moments still felt significant rather than disappearing underneath the bigger notes.
TVLine was similarly impressed, giving Kavi’s audition an A and highlighting the unusual runs she brought to Billie Eilish’s song.
With three coaches interested, Kavi suddenly faced the decision every Blind Audition contestant hopes to have.
But her choice may not have been as difficult as it appeared.
After listening to the pitches, Kavi chose Kelly Clarkson and admitted that she had apparently been leaning in that direction even before stepping onto the stage.
The decision completed another important addition to Team Kelly as the Season 30 Blind Auditions came to an end.
Kavi now joins a lineup that also includes singers such as Koumba Diallo, Kyle Davis, Nina Howland and Brianna Cameron as the competition moves into the Battles.
For Kavi, however, the biggest takeaway from her first performance may be how quickly the coaches recognized something different in her voice.
Kelly and Adam needed only a few notes before turning around.
And by combining Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower” with vocal influences connected to her own background, Kavi Nyx made sure her Blind Audition sounded like nobody else’s.
