REAL-LIFE ROMANCE REVEALED — ‘The Voice’ Singers Caroline Alexis and Everett Bounds Were Already Dating Before Riley Green Paired Them for a Flirty Country Battle

Caroline Alexis and Everett Bounds stepped onto The Voice stage expecting to fight for a place in the competition.

But their Battle carried considerably more emotion than Riley Green originally realized.

The two Team Riley singers performed Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn’s country classic “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” during the October 12 Battle Rounds.

And the chemistry viewers noticed wasn’t simply acting.

Caroline and Everett had already gone on several dates after meeting behind the scenes on the show.

Their connection actually began before either singer had completed their Blind Audition journey.

Caroline revealed that she and Everett first met backstage, where they gradually began talking.

Then Everett made a surprisingly old-fashioned move.

He sent Caroline flowers along with a handwritten note asking her to dinner.

Caroline admitted she hadn’t expected it because the two hadn’t spoken extensively at that point.

But she accepted.

The singers eventually went on a couple of dates while continuing through the competition.

Everett was much less shy about how impressed he was.

He described Caroline as beautiful and admitted she had many of the qualities he would look for in a girlfriend.

Caroline took a more cautious approach.

She explained that she wanted to move slowly and continue getting to know Everett rather than immediately putting a label on their relationship.

But she praised him for being supportive and uplifting — qualities that suddenly became even more important when they discovered they would have to compete against each other.

Riley paired the two singers without apparently knowing just how much had already happened between them.

Then came the song choice.

“Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” is built around playful back-and-forth chemistry between two country singers.

For Caroline and Everett, very little pretending was required.

During rehearsals with Riley and Battle advisor Carly Pearce, their natural connection quickly became obvious.

Riley encouraged them to lean into the playful side of the performance and essentially told them to flirt with each other while singing.

Everett didn’t seem to have a problem with that assignment.

He joked that singing the song to Caroline was going to be very easy.

Once they reached the stage, their chemistry became one of the defining features of the Battle.

Kelly Clarkson called the performance fun and praised the throwback country energy.

She complimented Caroline’s storytelling tone and character while also noting Everett’s ability to open up vocally and show more range. Kelly ultimately felt the Battle was extremely evenly matched.

Adam Levine admitted that traditional country was outside his musical wheelhouse, but he still believed both singers had delivered strong performances.

If forced to choose, however, Adam said he would lean toward Everett.

Then the decision belonged to Riley.

He praised Caroline for bringing the attitude and sass he loves about country music.

With Everett, Riley felt he had delivered exactly the kind of natural, easygoing country performance he expected from him.

Riley ultimately selected Everett Bounds as the Battle winner.

He later explained that Everett seemed particularly comfortable performing fun, uptempo traditional country music and said that was something he wanted to keep on Team Riley.

That meant Caroline’s Voice journey came to an end.

And suddenly their unusual dating situation became even more complicated.

Before the decision, Caroline had already acknowledged how strange it was to begin developing feelings for somebody while simultaneously knowing the competition might separate them.

She joked that Everett would remind her to keep answering his phone calls after the show.

As for what happened romantically after the Battle?

That remains unclear.

The two still appear to be on friendly terms and jointly promoted their Battle performance online, but neither has publicly confirmed that they are officially a couple.

For now, Everett continues his Voice journey while Caroline leaves the competition.

But their Battle may be remembered for something beyond Riley Green’s decision.

Two singers arrived hoping to find a coach.

Somewhere backstage, they also unexpectedly found each other.

And even though The Voice forced Riley to choose between them, viewers are now waiting to see whether Caroline Alexis and Everett Bounds’ story continues long after the Battle ends.
