Adam Levine Reveals How He Really Feels About Morgan Wallen After Evan James Performs His Hit on The Voice Season 30

Adam Levine has shared a surprising reflection on country superstar Morgan Wallen’s success after 22-year-old Evan James performed Wallen’s hit “Wasted on You” during The Voice Season 30. The performance created an unexpected connection between the current competition and one of its most famous former contestants, prompting Levine to reveal how he feels about the singer he once coached more than a decade ago.

Evan James, a young musician from Highland, Michigan, stepped onto the Blind Auditions stage hoping to impress the coaches with his interpretation of Wallen’s popular country song. His soulful delivery quickly attracted attention, demonstrating an ability to combine traditional country influences with elements of contemporary pop and R&B.

The performance impressed three of the four coaches. Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, and Adam Levine all turned their chairs, giving Evan the opportunity to choose between three established artists who believed he had the potential to succeed in the competition.

Clarkson praised Evan for bringing his own personality to such a recognizable song. Green also recognized his vocal ability and growing confidence throughout the performance, making it clear that he would welcome the young singer onto his team.

Levine approached the situation from a different angle. Knowing that Green had already attracted several country performers, the Maroon 5 frontman suggested that Evan could distinguish himself by becoming one of the few country-oriented artists on Team Adam.

The strategy worked. Despite having the opportunity to join Green, Evan surprised the coaches by choosing Levine. His decision gave the veteran coach a country singer to mentor and created an interesting parallel with Morgan Wallen’s earlier experience on the show.

Wallen originally competed on The Voice Season 6 in 2014, long before becoming one of country music’s biggest stars. He initially joined Team Usher but later moved to Levine’s team after being stolen during the Battle Rounds.

Although Wallen demonstrated promise, he was eventually eliminated during the Playoffs. At the time, nobody could have predicted the extraordinary success that would follow as he developed his own musical identity and established himself in Nashville.

Years later, Wallen has become one of the most commercially successful artists in country music, with major hits, record-breaking albums, and enormous concert audiences. His career has also become a reminder that winning a televised singing competition is not the only path to lasting success.

When Levine was asked about hearing Evan perform a song by someone he had previously coached, he responded with genuine appreciation for Wallen’s achievements. “Morgan obviously worked it out. So I’m proud of him,” Levine said, offering a positive assessment of his former contestant’s journey.

Levine also reflected on Wallen’s early beginnings and explained that helping aspiring performers establish successful careers is ultimately what coaches hope to accomplish. His remarks suggested that he viewed Wallen’s accomplishments as an encouraging example rather than focusing on the fact that the singer had been eliminated from the competition.

The connection makes Evan’s audition particularly interesting. Like Wallen, Evan arrived with country influences and an opportunity to work with Levine. After advancing through the Blind Auditions, he also won his Battle against Luke Curran, giving him another chance to demonstrate his abilities as the competition continues.

Adam Levine’s comments about Morgan Wallen have added a meaningful new chapter to The Voice Season 30. What began as a memorable audition by a young Michigan singer became a reminder of how dramatically a contestant’s life can change after appearing on the show. As Evan James continues his journey on Team Adam, Wallen’s remarkable career offers an inspiring example of what might be possible long after the television cameras stop rolling.
