BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Season 23 of American Idol may have wrapped, but for John Foster, the journey is only just beginning. In an exclusive sit-down with Louisiana First anchor Andre Moreau, the 22-year-old singer opened up about his whirlwind experience on the show, his future in music, and what comes next.

“It has just been like rocket fuel to my career,” Foster said, reflecting on the impact of the competition. “I went from 0 to 500 within a couple of months, and it’s just been an incredible ride.”

Throughout the season, Idol judges praised Foster’s steady growth—something he himself acknowledged with newfound confidence. “I will say I’m proud of myself. I can say that that’s something that I usually don’t say very much, but I can say that I’m proud of myself for the growth that I’ve had.”

Foster credits American Idol for transforming him not just as a performer, but as a person. “I grew vocally, artistically, and spiritually in just a couple of months. I think of myself as a whole different person than I was. I still have my same core, my same values, and my same beliefs, but I’m just better in a lot of ways. And I’m really thankful that I was able to do that.”

Notably, Foster completed his Idol journey without a manager, handling the pressure and logistics of national TV largely on his own. Now, however, he’s actively searching for professional guidance. “I absolutely am looking for management, you know, because it’s a lot to manage myself,” he said. “To have a manager would be amazing. So I’m in the works right now and I’m super excited for whatever comes in the future.”

Fresh off a celebratory hometown event in Addis, which Foster called “the absolutely best day of [his] life,” he’s keeping the momentum going with live performances. He’s set to take the stage at the Cajun Country Jam in Denham Springs on Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, joining Louisiana acts Greg Morgan and Chase Tyler.

As his American Idol chapter closes, Foster is stepping into a new season with clarity, ambition, and a strong fanbase behind him. With his distinctive voice and grounded spirit, it’s clear that John Foster is far from done—he’s just getting started.
