The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing for a major move as they begin renovations on their new £16million home, Forest Lodge, nestled in Windsor Great Park. Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Wales family will relocate later this year, calling the property their “forever home.”

Forest Lodge, a Grade II-listed Georgian residence, boasts eight bedrooms—double the size of their current four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage. Built nearly 330 years ago, the lodge retains its original charm with ornate plaster cornices, marble fireplaces, Venetian windows, and a vaulted hallway ceiling. A £1.5million restoration in 2001 carefully preserved these features, and the home is now undergoing further internal and external upgrades after recent planning approval..

For William and Catherine, this move represents more than just a change of address. After enduring the loss of Queen Elizabeth II and facing health challenges within the family, the couple views Forest Lodge as a long-term sanctuary—one that offers stability and a sense of normalcy for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who will continue attending nearby Lambrook School.

Despite the grandeur of their new residence, the family will maintain their preference for a private household without live-in staff, keeping their home life intimate and family-centered. Just four miles from Adelaide Cottage, Forest Lodge ensures the Waleses remain close to their established routines while embracing a fresh chapter.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “The Wales family will move house later this year,” marking a hopeful new beginning for the future king and his family.
