It’s down to two.
After a thrilling finale, American Idol Season 23 has narrowed its finalists from three to just two—John Foster and Jamal Roberts. Unfortunately, fan favorite Breanna Nix was the contestant left out, sparking an emotional response from viewers.
On the live show around 9:15 p.m. ET, host Ryan Seacrest revealed the top two finalists. The three hopefuls gathered on stage, visibly nervous.
“The first person to take a coveted spot in your top two after the nationwide vote is John Foster,” Seacrest announced. Foster reacted emotionally, putting his hands to his face and comforting Breanna Nix by rubbing her back.
Seacrest continued, “The final person still in the running to be your American Idol after the nationwide vote is Jamal.”
An emotional Nix turned to Roberts and told him, “I’m so proud of you.”
Fan Reactions to Breanna Nix’s Elimination
Breanna’s elimination left many fans heartbroken and vocal on social media.
