John Foster Makes a Triumphant Return to the Stage with First Post-Idol Show in Louisiana
Just one week after capturing hearts as the runner-up on American Idol Season 23, Louisiana’s own John Foster is already back doing what he loves — performing live for his fans.
The 18-year-old country crooner is set to take the stage at the Cajun Country Jam in Denham Springs, Louisiana, over Memorial Day weekend, marking his first official performance since the Idol finale. Foster will perform on both Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, joining a star-studded lineup that includes Chris Cagle, Dylan Scott, and Craig Morgan.
Foster won over Idol fans with his heartfelt performances of country favorites like “I Cross My Heart” and “Goodbye Time,” but it was his emotional original song “Tell That Angel I Love Her” — written in memory of two close friends lost in a tragic accident — that truly left a lasting impact. The song, released just before the finale, has quickly become a fan favorite.
During the season finale, Foster shared the stage with fellow finalists Jamal Roberts (this season’s winner) and Breanna Nix (third place). Sharp-eyed fans even noticed a touching moment when John caught a glimpse of the winner’s name before it was revealed — and turned to Jamal with a proud smile. That simple gesture showed the kind of character fans have come to love from him.
In a heartfelt post following the show, Foster wrote:
“What a blessing to stand on the Idol stage with so many amazing people — from rising stars to legends. I’m beyond grateful. I’ll keep making music for y’all as long as the good Lord lets me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart — times a million.”
Now, he’s inviting fans to celebrate the next chapter of his journey with him — live and in person. In a video posted to social media, Foster encouraged fans to join him at Cajun Country Jam and shared a special treat: Use promo code “FOSTER” for 50% off tickets.
The three-day festival runs May 23–25 at Pards North Park and promises to be a weekend full of great music and hometown pride. Foster says he’s ready to bring “some good old-fashioned country music” to the stage — and fans can’t wait.
