After a wave of complaints online, the official Idol account stepped in to clarify an important issue: not all votes are being counted — especially when rules are accidentally broken.

One of the most common problems comes from exceeding the vote limit. Each voting method (app, website, text) typically allows a set number of votes per contestant. Once you go over that limit, additional votes simply won’t count — even if they appear to go through.
