Country music legend Reba McEntire may be all smiles heading into another season of The Voice, but things at home aren’t quite as harmonious. Sources close to the singer reveal her longtime boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, isn’t thrilled about her returning to the NBC show — especially since she’ll be working closely again with Snoop Dogg.
According to insiders, Rex, 68, has confided in friends that Reba tends to become “distracted” when she’s filming the competition series. “It’s always ‘not now’ when she’s running to and from the set,” says one source. “And now she’ll be rubbing shoulders with Snoop.”
Rex, who rose to fame on CSI: Miami, is reportedly uncomfortable with Reba’s easy chemistry with the rapper. “Rex hates to admit it but he’s jealous of Reba’s close friendship with Snoop,” the insider explains.
Reba, 70, and Snoop Dogg, 53, previously coached together during season 26 of The Voice, and their playful dynamic didn’t go unnoticed. Behind the scenes, their interactions were filled with light-hearted banter and a camaraderie that many described as “warm and friendly.”
“It’s obvious she has a soft spot for him,” adds the source. “They’ve shared flirty moments both on and off camera, and they’ve hung out when the cameras weren’t rolling. Seeing them get along so well gets Rex’s back up every time.”
But according to those in Reba’s inner circle, there’s no need for alarm. “Reba’s just naturally flirtatious — she’s a people person and loves to connect with everyone on set. She’s especially fond of Snoop because he’s such a devoted family man, which is something she deeply respects.”s oosn
Apparently, Reba loves chatting with Snoop about his lesser-known hobbies, including painting, collecting quirky socks, and coaching high school football. “They have more in common than people might expect,” says the insider. “She adores that about him.”
Despite the friendly nature of their relationship, Rex isn’t the only one feeling uneasy. Martha Stewart, 83, who famously shares her own high-profile friendship with Snoop, reportedly wasn’t too thrilled watching the duo’s rapport blossom during season 26. “She’s definitely not going to be thrilled listening to Snoop go on and on about Reba in the months to come,” the source says with a laugh.
Still, those close to Reba are quick to shut down any rumors of impropriety. “Of course, nothing inappropriate is going on,” one confidant insists. “Reba would be shocked at even the suggestion.”
As filming for season 28 of The Voice kicks off, one thing’s for sure — the sparks on screen might not be the only ones catching attention.
