Hayden Panettiere’s Mother Raises New Questions About Brian Hickerson’s Account of Her Daughter’s Final Hours

Hayden Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, is publicly questioning the account surrounding her daughter’s final hours, saying she believes there are important parts of the story that still do not make sense.

Panettiere di*d at age 36 on August 16, 2026, after being found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. Authorities have said the investigation remains ongoing, and her official cause and manner of de@th have not yet been finalized.

Now Vogel says she wants investigators to examine carefully what happened before emergency responders arrived.

One of her biggest questions concerns the timeline described by Panettiere’s on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother Zach.

According to the account that has emerged, Brian had reportedly been asleep when Zach arrived and discovered that something was seriously wrong. Zach then alerted his brother, after which attempts were made to help Panettiere while emergency services were contacted.

Vogel says she finds that explanation difficult to understand.

She questioned how someone could have been sleeping nearby without realizing that Panettiere was in serious distress. She has also openly speculated that events may have unfolded differently from the version described by the Hickerson brothers.

However, those are Vogel’s suspicions, not findings by investigators.

Another issue attracting her attention is the reported presence of Narcan at the residence. Vogel questioned why it was available and how it came to be there, arguing that investigators should establish a complete timeline rather than make assumptions about what happened.

Vogel says she also spoke with law enforcement after her daughter’s de@th and encouraged authorities to investigate the circumstances thoroughly.

Her concerns are intensified by her longstanding distrust of Hickerson.

Vogel has previously described his relationship with her daughter as unhealthy and said her family had spent years trying to distance Panettiere from him. The relationship had a troubled history that included previous domestic-violence cases involving Hickerson.

Vogel and her daughter were themselves estranged before Panettiere’s passing, something Vogel has acknowledged publicly.

She has said their separation was connected in large part to disagreements surrounding Hickerson and the direction Panettiere’s life had taken.

That complicated family history has made the aftermath particularly emotional, but it also means Vogel’s claims about what happened need to remain clearly separated from what authorities have established.

At this point, Brian Hickerson has not been accused by authorities of causing Panettiere’s de@th, and investigators have not publicly announced evidence of foul play. His representatives have emphasized that the investigation should be allowed to run its course before conclusions are reached.

The investigation has nevertheless expanded as officials work to determine exactly what happened.

Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding Panettiere’s passing, with additional investigative assistance involved and medical findings still pending.

That leaves an important distinction between what is known and what is being alleged.

Vogel believes there are inconsistencies in the account of her daughter’s final hours and wants answers. But her suspicions have not been established as fact, and the official investigation has yet to determine that Hickerson did anything criminal.

For now, the biggest unanswered question remains the same: what exactly caused Hayden Panettiere’s sudden de@th at only 36?

Until investigators and medical officials complete their work, Vogel’s latest comments add new questions to the case—but they do not yet provide the answers.
