Bryan Jaymes created one of the most entertaining moments of The Voice Season 30 when his soaring performance of “Every Time You Go Away” earned three chair turns, a standing ovation — and one unforgettable fake-out that left Adam Levine crushed.
The 39-year-old Louisiana native stepped onto the Blind Auditions stage with Paul Young’s version of “Every Time You Go Away,” immediately revealing a smooth, emotional tone that caught Levine’s attention almost from the beginning.
Adam was the first coach to turn his chair.
Queen Latifah followed soon afterward, while Riley Green eventually joined the battle as well. Kelly Clarkson stayed facing the stage, leaving Bryan with three coaches competing to add him to their teams.
By the end of the performance, Bryan had shown impressive range, control and stage presence. The coaches rose to applaud him, turning the audition into one of the night’s biggest crowd-pleasing moments.
There was another surprise once Bryan began talking. His naturally deep speaking voice sounded noticeably different from the lighter, soaring tone the coaches had just heard while he was singing, adding another memorable element to his audition.
Queen Latifah called the performance beautiful and made it clear she believed Bryan possessed the kind of voice she wanted on her team. Riley also praised him, telling Bryan that a performance like that could take him far regardless of which coach he selected.

Bryan began announcing his choice by saying Adam’s name — and for a brief moment, Levine appeared convinced that he had won.
He hadn’t.
Bryan suddenly revealed that he was choosing Queen Latifah, turning the announcement into a hilarious fake-out. Levine’s celebration disappeared instantly as he dropped his head toward his desk while the other coaches laughed at what had just happened.
Even host Carson Daly noticed how devastated Adam looked, while Bryan celebrated joining Team Queen. The playful moment perfectly capped an audition that had already delivered powerful vocals and a standing ovation.
