‘Dancing With the Stars’ Reveals Never-Before-Seen Theme for Mysterious October 13 Episode

Dancing With the Stars has finally filled one of the biggest mysteries on its Season 35 calendar — and the ballroom is heading somewhere it has never gone before.

The October 13 episode will officially become Super Bowl Night, marking the first time in the show’s 35-season history that an entire episode has been built around football’s biggest event.

Judge Derek Hough revealed the surprise theme on Good Morning America after fans had spent weeks wondering why the October 13 slot had been left noticeably blank when many of Season 35’s other theme nights were announced.

Rather than focusing on football itself, the special episode will celebrate the music and spectacle that have become synonymous with the Super Bowl.

The remaining celebrities and their professional partners are expected to perform routines inspired by songs that have been featured during memorable Super Bowl halftime shows over the years.

ABC described the night as a celebration of the music, spectacle and unforgettable moments associated with the big game.

That opens the door to an enormous catalog of music connected to artists who have appeared on the Super Bowl stage, potentially giving the ballroom one of its most ambitious themes of the season.

However, one important part of the night remains a mystery.

ABC has not yet revealed the individual song selections, dance styles or complete performance lineup for the October 13 episode.

That means viewers still don’t know which Super Bowl-era songs will be assigned to the remaining couples — or whether the episode could include additional surprises beyond the competitive routines.

The timing of Super Bowl Night is also significant.

ABC and ESPN are preparing for Super Bowl LXI, which is scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 14, 2027. The DWTS episode is part of the network’s broader buildup to the event.

Super Bowl Night will follow another major first for Season 35: Mariah Carey Night on October 6, when the remaining couples will perform routines set entirely to Carey’s music.

The season will then shift into a more emotional direction with Dedication Night on October 20 before moving into Horror Movie Night on October 27.

For fans, however, October 13 may now be one of the most unpredictable episodes on the schedule.

The Super Bowl has produced decades of huge halftime performances featuring some of the biggest names in music, giving DWTS producers plenty of possibilities when choosing songs and staging the routines.

And because the actual pairings of songs, celebrities and dance styles remain under wraps, the biggest surprise of Super Bowl Night may still be waiting behind the curtain.

For the first time, football’s biggest stage and the Dancing With the Stars ballroom are officially colliding — and viewers will find out exactly what that looks like when Super Bowl Night arrives October 13.
