Kayleigh Matthews Earns Four-Chair Turn as Riley Green Pulls Unexpected Move on Adam Levine

Kayleigh Matthews turned one of the final Blind Auditions of The Voice Season 30 into both a major vocal moment and one of the funniest coaching battles of the season.

The 31-year-old Tucson native performed Vince Gill’s “When I Call Your Name,” and her traditional country sound immediately caught the attention of Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Riley Green and Queen Latifah.

By the end of the performance, all four coaches had turned their chairs, giving Kayleigh an impressive four-chair turn.

Adam was quick to make his case, telling Kayleigh that he saw her as a “magnificent talent” and making it clear he was prepared to fight hard to get her on his team.

Queen Latifah focused on the emotional impact of the audition.

She told Kayleigh that the performance had “took me to church,” describing the moment as something that felt almost spiritual.

Riley, meanwhile, praised Kayleigh for taking on a song by Vince Gill, whom he called one of country music’s greatest vocalists.

He said singing a Vince Gill classic meant filling very big shoes, but told Kayleigh she had managed to do exactly that. Riley also said the performance reminded him of the country music he grew up hearing in Alabama.

Kelly added another big compliment by comparing elements of Kayleigh’s voice to country stars Patty Loveless and LeAnn Rimes.

She also reminded Kayleigh that she had previously performed with Vince Gill herself, giving her a personal connection to the song.

But just when Adam tried to continue his pitch, Riley made an unexpected move that completely changed the mood in the room.

Riley interrupted Adam and told him he had already talked enough.

Then a prop team appeared carrying a duck blind, which was placed directly in front of Adam’s chair, completely blocking him from Kayleigh’s view.

Even host Carson Daly was amused, joking that he had been waiting years to see something like it happen on the show.

Adam refused to be silenced.

He walked around the blind and continued making his case, asking Kayleigh whether country music was truly where her heart belonged.

Kayleigh explained that country was where her love of music began, but said there was also a strong soul influence in the kind of music she wanted to create.

That answer immediately made Adam even more interested.

He told Kayleigh that he desperately wanted her on his team and explained that she could fill his final remaining space for a country artist.

Riley then revealed that he had actually put together the duck blind during the commercial break, showing just how committed he was to disrupting Adam’s pitch.

But after all four coaches finished fighting for her, Kayleigh made a choice few of them seemed to expect.

She chose Queen Latifah.

Kayleigh said she wanted the opportunity to work with Queen, despite Riley’s country background and Adam’s aggressive recruitment.

Queen was thrilled by the decision and explained that she believed Kayleigh’s voice could go far beyond traditional country music.

She pointed to her own career across hip-hop, jazz and musical theater as proof that artists do not have to remain inside one musical lane.

For Kayleigh, the Blind Audition ended with four chairs, comparisons to major country singers, an unexpected comedy moment between Riley and Adam — and a surprising new home on Team Queen.
