Only three contestants remain in American Idol Season 23, and their final chance to win America’s vote comes during the live, three-hour grand finale airing Sunday, May 18, 2025. Finalists John Foster, Breanna Nix, and Jamal Roberts are all set to deliver powerful performances — but this time, timing could make all the difference.

Just like in past seasons, early votes are expected to determine who finishes in third place. If the familiar format holds, host Ryan Seacrest will announce the third-place finalist midway through the show, meaning viewers must vote early to help their favorite make the Top 2.

How to Watch:
The American Idol Season 23 finale airs live coast-to-coast beginning at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC.

How Voting Works: Three Ways to Support Your Favorite Finalist

Voting opens as soon as the show begins and will close during the last commercial break, around 10:50 p.m. ET / 7:50 p.m. PT. Viewers can cast up to 30 votes per contestant using all three voting platforms:

  1. ABC’s Official Website — Log in or sign up for a free account.
  2. American Idol App — Available on iOS and Android. Sign in with your MyDisney account or create a new one.
  3. Text Voting — Text the number associated with your favorite finalist to 21523.

Finalists’ Voting Numbers:

  • Breanna Nix — Text 9 to 21523
  • Jamal Roberts — Text 12 to 21523
  • John Foster — Text 13 to 21523

💡 Pro Tip: You can vote early in the show, even before your favorite performs. You’re allowed to update your votes anytime before the window closes — just be sure to hit “save.”
