The boyfriend of Brittany Clark is sharing new details about the heartbreaking final moments after the Florida woman was attacked by an alligator at Little Big Econ State Forest. Chance Allison says one of the last things Clark asked him to do was take care of her beloved German Shepherd, Hokie.
Clark, 31, died after the tragic attack in the Econlockhatchee River during what had started as a normal outdoor trip with Allison and her roommate, Jayden Hernandez. The group had been spending time in the water when the alligator suddenly appeared, turning a peaceful day into a desperate fight for survival.
Allison told the New York Post that while they were waiting for emergency responders to arrive, Clark asked him to make sure Hokie would be cared for. He said that request has stayed with him more than almost anything else from the painful ordeal.
According to Allison, those words were among the last things he clearly remembers hearing from her. In the middle of fear, panic, and confusion, Clark was still thinking about the dog she loved, a detail that has made the story even more emotional for those following the tragedy.

The couple had reportedly been enjoying the day outdoors with Hernandez. Allison had also brought his own dog, Bulma, a pit bull mix, along for the outing. The dogs were not in the water at the time of the attack, according to Allison, and remained on the riverbank.
Allison said he, Clark, and Hernandez were standing in shallow water when the alligator suddenly attacked without warning. He described the moment as a complete shift from smiles and conversation to chaos, saying everything changed in an instant.
He immediately tried to help Clark and pull her away from the animal. Hernandez also assisted as the two fought to get Clark back toward shore and call for help. The attack left Clark critically injured, and those with her did everything they could while waiting for first responders.
Recently released body camera footage from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office showed the urgent response after deputies arrived. The footage captured an officer running through thick brush to reach the riverbank, where Clark had been brought onto the shore.

Allison said he placed a canopy over Clark to help protect her from the intense Florida heat while they waited for paramedics. He explained that his focus was on keeping her as comfortable as possible and trying to help until emergency crews reached them.
He also clarified some details that he believes have been misunderstood or wrongly reported. Allison said he was not seeking attention and only wanted the facts of what happened to be accurate, especially because reading false claims online has made an already painful loss even harder.
One claim he disputed involved a report that another hiker had warned the group not to enter the river. Allison said no one clearly told them not to go into the water. He acknowledged they had briefly spoken to another visitor, but said he only remembered the person mentioning that he used to bring his dogs to the area.
Allison also addressed reports about what happened after Clark was brought to shore. He said he did not perform CPR because he was focused on keeping her calm and applying pressure to her injuries with his hands and a towel while waiting for medical help.
He further clarified that both dogs, Hokie and Bulma, stayed on the bank during the attack. According to Allison, they barked toward the alligator as he and Hernandez tried to bring Clark to safety.
As he continues grieving, Allison said he is working with Clark’s family to arrange her funeral and is also planning a celebration of life in her honor. His public messages have shown the deep pain of losing someone he had hoped to build a future with.
Remembering Clark, Allison described her as outgoing, adventurous, and deeply connected to the outdoors. He said she loved spending weekends paddleboarding, kayaking, boating, and enjoying nature, making the loss even more heartbreaking for everyone who knew how fully she embraced life.
