At just 14 years old, Brooklyn Marie is already making an impression on The Voice Season 30. But the Minnesota singer has revealed a surprising backup career dream inspired by a frightening childhood health experience that once threatened her ability to hear normally.
The young performer, whose full name is Brooklyn Marie Ostlund, impressed Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah during her Blind Audition with Olivia Rodrigo’s “traitor.”
Both coaches turned their chairs, but Brooklyn ultimately chose Team Kelly, fulfilling a dream she had carried since she first began watching the competition.
Her love of music started remarkably early. At just three years old, she performed at a local telethon in Alexandria, Minnesota, beginning a journey that would eventually lead her to national television.
By age 11, Brooklyn was determined to become a working musician. She spent an entire summer practicing guitar and building a repertoire of approximately 100 songs.

Her dedication soon paid off, leading to performances at local events, wineries, and other venues. She has also released original songs, including “Tired” and “i miss u.”
Despite her growing success, Brooklyn has another ambition outside the entertainment industry. If music does not become her lifelong career, she hopes to become an ear, nose, and throat doctor.
That unusual career choice comes from a deeply personal childhood experience involving serious complications after she received ear tubes to help manage recurring infections.

Brooklyn recalled that complications affected her eardrums, leaving doctors uncertain whether she would ever regain normal hearing. For a child who loved music, the possibility was especially frightening.
During her medical treatment, however, one doctor’s kindness left a lasting impression. Before her operations, the doctor would sing to help her feel calmer and less afraid.
Those comforting moments inspired Brooklyn to imagine helping other children in the same way. She hopes that if she becomes a doctor, she can keep a guitar nearby and sing to young patients before their procedures.
For now, Brooklyn remains focused on music. She is preparing for her Battle Round performance on October 26 while continuing work on an album she hopes to release in 2027.
Whether Brooklyn Marie eventually becomes a successful recording artist or a doctor, her ambitions share one meaningful purpose: helping others through music. Her remarkable story shows how a frightening childhood experience helped shape a dream far beyond the stage.
