Ciara Miller’s Dancing With the Stars journey came to an unexpectedly early end on Mariah Carey Night, but the reality star had already built an unusual résumé long before she ever stepped onto the ballroom floor.
Ciara and professional partner Brandon Armstrong were eliminated after performing a Jazz routine to Mariah Carey’s “Emotions.”
The judges awarded them 21 out of 30, with Carrie Ann Inaba describing it as Ciara’s strongest performance of the season. Still, when judges’ scores were combined with viewer votes, the pair were sent home while several lower-scoring couples advanced.
Ciara later admitted she was disappointed by the result and became emotional while discussing the elimination.
But she also said the experience taught her something important about stepping outside her comfort zone and allowing herself to be imperfect — lessons that made her short time on the show meaningful despite the ending.
Many DWTS viewers knew Ciara primarily from Bravo’s Summer House.
But before reality television became a major part of her career, Ciara pursued something very different.
She became a registered nurse and worked as an ICU travel nurse, including treating patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
That part of Ciara’s life has sometimes surprised viewers who first discovered her through the drama, friendships and relationships documented on reality television.
Ciara also began modeling at a young age and has increasingly focused on fashion and entertainment opportunities as her profile has grown.
Eventually, reality television opened another door.
Ciara joined Summer House during Season 5, initially entering the group through her connection with Luke Gulbranson. What began as a new reality-TV opportunity eventually turned her into one of the show’s longest-running cast members.
Her personal life has also played out publicly over the years.
Ciara and Luke had a romantic history before their relationship became platonic. She later developed a complicated connection with Southern Charm star Austen Kroll after meeting him on Winter House.
Another highly discussed relationship came with Summer House castmate West Wilson.
Their connection developed during Season 8, but the relationship eventually ended, with Ciara later speaking openly about the difficulty of watching parts of her personal life play out months later on television.
Through all of those reality-TV chapters, Ciara continued expanding beyond the identity viewers first associated with her.
Nursing, modeling, Summer House and now Dancing With the Stars have all become very different pieces of the same career.
Before her elimination, Ciara described DWTS as an especially significant experience, saying the show had allowed viewers to see another side of her while helping her learn more about herself.
That may explain why the elimination felt especially difficult.
Ciara had entered the competition with an established Bravo fanbase, but the ballroom gave her a chance to reach viewers who may never have watched Summer House — and to be judged on something completely outside her usual television world.
Her run with Brandon may have ended earlier than she hoped, but it added another unexpected chapter to a career that was never limited to reality television in the first place.
Long before the ballroom lights, Ciara Miller had already gone from an ICU nurse to a model and reality-TV star.
And after Dancing With the Stars, her next career move may be just as difficult to predict.
