Reunited and it definitely feels good. More than two weeks after sharing the American Idol Season 23 finale stage, runner-up John Foster and third-place finalist Breanna Nix gave fans something to smile about—a sweet reunion video filmed in Nashville and posted to Instagram.
“Got my good friend @officialjohnfoster & our yummy drinks,” Nix captioned the clip, showing the two clinking canned beverages with easy camaraderie and big grins. Foster reposted the Story with the message: “Glad to be back with friends like @breannanixmusic!”
The two also took time to swing by Seacrest Studios, where they recorded a playful message about missing longtime Idol host Ryan Seacrest. For many fans, the visit was a nostalgic nod to the months spent watching the duo grow from promising contenders into bona fide stars.
Their reunion wasn’t just for fun—it was part of a packed week of appearances leading up to the 19/BMG Takeover concert in Nashville on June 4. Foster and Nix joined a powerhouse lineup of Idol alums including winner Jamal Roberts, Gabby Samone, Kolbi Jordan, Thunderstorm Artis, Mattie Pruitt, and more. The show, held ahead of CMA Fest’s official kickoff, marked the first time many of the finalists performed together since the finale.
Foster, still riding the high of his strong Idol run, shared his excitement in an Instagram post leading up to the concert. “I’m super excited to join some great friends in Nashville for this concert on June 4th,” he wrote. “This will be my first ‘official’ appearance in Music City, which is quite the milestone!”
Though he’s just beginning his post-Idol career, Foster is already hitting major goals. Over Memorial Day weekend, he made his debut at Louisiana’s Cajun Country Jam. Next up? A bucket list moment: performing at the Grand Ole Opry on June 7.
“The first time I went to the Opry, I fought back tears because I was so overwhelmed with joy,” Foster wrote. “As an amateur country music historian, there is no more significant place to my passion (country music) than the Grand Ole Opry. This has been my #1 dream ever since I started music, and now, because of your support, my dream will come true! I will NEVER be able to express my gratitude! Glory be to God!”
As for Breanna Nix, her new original song “Higher” has already made waves after its debut during the Idol Takeover showcase. With Foster and Nix continuing to appear together and support each other’s milestones, it’s clear their musical journeys—and friendship—are just getting started.
