According to a report from The U.S. Sun, Katy Perry is not tuning in to this year’s season of American Idol—despite having served as a judge for seven seasons. A source shared that the pop star “doesn’t even watch” the show and has “no opinion” on Carrie Underwood, who replaced her on the judging panel.

“Katy wishes the show and everyone there well, she still views it as a positive overall,” the source said. “She just graduated from that chapter and has no interest in going back.”

The source also claimed that Perry found the Idol experience somewhat “suffocating,” citing long filming commitments and the demands of working under a Disney contract. Allegedly, both she and her team felt the show was holding her back creatively, and stepping away has allowed her to feel more like herself again.

Katy Perry’s Post-Idol Life Includes a Trip to Space

Although she’s no longer on Idol, Perry has a full plate. Her Lifetimes Tour is kicking off this month in Mexico and will include stops across the U.S., Australia, Canada, South America, and Europe.

But perhaps most notably, on April 14, Perry literally went out of this world—joining a Blue Origin spaceflight alongside Gayle King and others.

King shared that Perry sang “It’s a Wonderful World” during the flight, even though fellow passengers requested hits like “Roar” and “Firework.” Perry later explained her choice:

“I think that it’s not about me, it’s not about singing my songs. It’s about a collective energy.”
