KISS Receives Kennedy Center Honor: “A Dream Come True”

After more than five decades of unforgettable performances, iconic face paint, and rock ‘n’ roll anthems, KISS has officially been inducted into the Kennedy Center Honors — one of the most prestigious recognitions in American performing arts.

Presented by President Donald Trump, this year’s ceremony celebrated KISS as a cultural force whose influence has stretched across generations and continents. “They became a global phenomenon, sold over 100 million records worldwide… they made a fortune,” Trump said. “One of the greatest rock bands of all time.”

The band members responded with heartfelt appreciation. Gene Simmons called the honor “the embodiment of the American dream,” expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the group. Paul Stanley added, “From our earliest days, KISS has embodied the American ideal that all things are possible and that hard work pays off. I accept this on behalf of the long legacy of KISS and all the band members who helped create our iconic band.”

Original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss also reflected on the moment. Frehley described the honor as “a dream come true that I never thought would materialize,” while Criss called it “the greatest honor of our career.”

The 2025 Kennedy Center Honors also recognized country legend George Strait, disco queen Gloria Gaynor, Broadway and film star Michael Crawford, and actor/director Sylvester Stallone. With this induction, KISS becomes only the sixth rock band ever to receive the distinction, joining legendary groups like The Who, U2, and Led Zeppelin.

For KISS and their millions of fans, the moment is more than a celebration — it’s a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of rock ‘n’ roll.
