Reba Wants Her Sitcom Back: “We’ve Been Pushing for a Reboot”

Reba McEntire

Reba McEntire might be a country music legend, but she’s not done making waves on the small screen just yet. The 67-year-old icon has her heart set on reviving the fan-favorite sitcom Reba, and she’s not shy about it.

“We’ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the Reba show,” she revealed during a recent interview on The Bobby Bones Show. “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years.”

And who can blame her? The beloved sitcom, which originally aired from 2001 to 2007, brought laughs, heart, and a whole lot of sass, thanks to its talented cast and quirky Southern charm.

McEntire played Reba Nell Hart, a newly single mom navigating life, love, and the chaos of co-parenting with her ex-husband Brock (played by Christopher Rich) and his eccentric new wife Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman).

“It was fun,” McEntire gushed about the original cast and crew. “We just had a great time. We really did become a little family. We want to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.”

She’s not the only one crossing her fingers.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who starred as Reba’s spirited daughter Cheyenne, is also all-in. In a February episode of The Art of Kindness podcast, she raved about McEntire’s strength, kindness, and leadership. “She’s so powerful because she walks the walk,” Swisher said. “Are you kidding me? We’d love to do [a reboot]!”

While we wait for the Reba reboot to (hopefully) become reality, fans can catch McEntire and Peterman teaming up once again—but in a very different role.

The duo star as sisters in Lifetime’s new thriller The Hammer, inspired by the real-life story of Judge Kim Wheeler. McEntire plays Kim, a no-nonsense, traveling judge with a fiery personality and a reputation for laying down the law.

When the former judge dies under mysterious circumstances, Kim is thrown into a high-stakes investigation—especially when her sister Kris (Peterman), who runs a local brothel, is named a prime suspect.

The film also stars McEntire’s real-life boyfriend Rex Linn as a “mysterious cowboy with unknown motives,” and Kay Shioma Metchie as Kim’s tough-as-nails bailiff and close friend.

The Hammer marks the fourth time McEntire and Peterman have worked together post-Reba, including appearances on Working Class, Baby Daddy, and Young Sheldon. And if their chemistry on screen is any sign, fans are in for another treat.

So whether it’s a courtroom drama or a sitcom reunion, one thing is clear: Reba’s not done stealing the show.
