Rod Stewart Shares Heartwarming On-Stage Moment With Son Aiden, Proving He’s a Rockstar Dad On and Off Stage

Rod Stewart may be one of the most iconic figures in rock music, but at heart, he’s just “Dad” to his eight children. On Thursday night in Nashville, the 73-year-old legend gave fans more than just a performance — he offered a touching glimpse into his personal life with a surprise appearance from his seven-year-old son, Aiden.

In a video shared by his wife, Penny Lancaster, Stewart took the stage in true rockstar fashion — decked out in a dapper white outfit complete with polka dots, palm tree prints, and plenty of sparkle. But it was his sweet interaction with Aiden that truly stole the show. With his signature charm, Stewart broke into his famous “floss” dance, encouraging little Aiden to join in. The crowd roared with delight as Aiden confidently took center stage, even busting out some energetic moves of his own.

The playful energy didn’t stop there. Father and son soon transformed the stage into a mini football field, kicking around inflatable footballs and filling the arena with laughter. It was a lighthearted and unscripted moment — a rare, unfiltered look at the man behind the mic, simply enjoying fatherhood in front of thousands.

Beyond the stage lights, Stewart’s role as a father is something he takes very seriously. In a recent interview with ITV’s Lorraine, he opened up about how he prioritizes his children despite a demanding career. “I work my tours around their school breaks,” he explained. “This weekend, we’re heading to Florida as I kick off my U.S. tour while the kids are on holiday.” His youngest children — Aiden and 12-year-old Alastair — remain a big part of his life’s rhythm.

Stewart also emphasized how staying active helps him connect with his kids. “I work out regularly. I’ve always loved playing football,” he said. “I believe in staying active, drinking lots of water, and occasionally enjoying a glass of wine or a nice evening sherry.”

However, he didn’t shy away from addressing the challenges he faced while raising his older children during the peak of his career. Now in their 30s, his eldest — Kimberly, 43, and Sean, 37 — were often left navigating life with their dad on the road. “There were times I wasn’t really there,” Stewart admitted. “I wasn’t out partying every night — I was just working. But they didn’t get to see enough of me, and I regret that.”

Today, Stewart seems intent on making the most of every moment — whether that’s through a spontaneous dance break with his son, a family trip, or simply being present. For fans, Thursday night’s show wasn’t just a concert — it was a celebration of love, legacy, and a father’s devotion.
