Chari saved one of the most emotional performances of The Voice Season 30’s latest Blind Auditions for the end of the night. The 31-year-old surgical technologist stepped onto the stage carrying a deeply personal connection to her song — and walked away after convincing every coach to turn around.
For her Blind Audition, Chari chose Oleta Adams’ “Get Here,” a song connected closely to both of her late parents. Her father was the person who introduced her to the track, while it became one of the final songs her mother heard her sing.
Before taking the stage, Chari admitted that she often keeps her emotions bottled up. Once the music began, however, she allowed those feelings to become part of the performance.
The coaches responded quickly. Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Riley Green all eventually pressed their buttons, giving Chari the coveted four-chair turn.
Her performance combined soaring notes, carefully controlled runs and an emotional delivery that immediately gave all four coaches something to fight over once the song ended.
Adam made one of the strongest pitches. After praising Chari’s voice, he told her he believed she had the potential to go extremely far in the competition — even suggesting that she could ultimately win the season.
Adam also leaned into something that has already become part of his strategy this season: confidently selling his long history on The Voice and his experience helping artists navigate the competition.
But Queen Latifah had a pitch perfectly suited to Chari.
Playing off Chari’s career in the operating room, Queen praised the “surgical precision” she heard in the performance. More importantly, she felt Chari had managed to make such a recognizable song sound personal rather than simply copying what listeners already knew.
Riley wasn’t giving up either. As a first-time coach, he jokingly pointed out that neither he nor Chari had ever won The Voice before and suggested they could try to accomplish that milestone together.
With four coaches waiting, Chari faced one of the most difficult decisions available to a Blind Audition contestant. Adam had experience, Kelly had an impressive history of coaching successful singers, Riley offered a fresh partnership, and Queen had connected directly with Chari’s artistry.
In the end, Chari followed that connection and chose Queen Latifah, officially becoming the newest member of Team Queen.
For Queen, landing Chari meant even more than winning another four-chair battle. She explained afterward that she had hoped to find a voice like Chari’s when she agreed to become a coach. For Chari, an audition inspired by the parents who helped give her a love for music had suddenly opened the door to an entirely new chapter.
