The Voice Season 30 returned on September 28 with another packed night of Blind Auditions, and by the end of Episode 4, the competition was beginning to look very different. Several standout singers found coaches, Riley Green finally played the season’s last unused First-In button, and each team moved another step closer to completion.
One of the biggest moments came almost immediately with 15-year-old Allie Rae. Her performance of Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet” caught Green’s attention from the opening note, prompting him to turn almost instantly.
Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah also turned for the young country singer, setting up what initially looked like another three-coach fight. But Green had been holding onto something the others could no longer use.
He activated his First-In button, automatically securing Allie for Team Riley and preventing Clarkson and Latifah from having a chance to convince her otherwise. It was the final First-In play of the Blind Auditions after the other coaches had already used theirs.
Green continued strengthening his team later when Everett Bounds performed Eddie Rabbitt’s “Drivin’ My Life Away.” None of the other coaches turned, allowing Green to add Everett without a battle.
Adam Levine had his own important victory with 23-year-old Connor Closs. Connor performed Hozier’s “Too Sweet,” earning turns from both Levine and Green. After the two coaches made their pitches, Connor chose Team Adam.
Kelly Clarkson added one of the evening’s most powerful vocalists when Iran-born singer Saade tackled RAYE’s “Oscar Winning Tears.” Green called it one of the strongest vocal performances he had heard during the season, but Saade ultimately chose Clarkson, explaining that she had grown up listening to her music.
Queen Latifah also scored multiple victories. Bryan Jaymes earned three chair turns with “Every Time You Go Away,” but stunned Levine after appearing to say Adam’s name before revealing that he was actually choosing Queen.
Sophia Liano later joined Team Queen after earning turns from Latifah and Green with her ambitious performance of Céline Dion’s “I Surrender.”
Then came the audition that brought all four coaches around.
Surgical technologist Chari performed Oleta Adams’ “Get Here,” and Levine, Clarkson, Green and Latifah all turned quickly. Levine was so impressed that he remained standing while the coaches talked to her, while Latifah praised the “surgical precision” of Chari’s performance.
Despite four major pitches, Chari chose Queen Latifah, giving Team Queen another highly praised vocalist and closing the episode with one of its biggest victories.
After Episode 4, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Riley Green each had eight artists, while Adam Levine had seven. The Blind Auditions are not finished yet — they continue through October 6 — but with the teams filling rapidly, every remaining chair turn is becoming more important.
And with singers such as Chari, Allie Rae, Bryan Jaymes and Saade already generating major attention, Season 30 is moving beyond simply building teams. The first group of contestants viewers will be watching closely as the competition advances is already starting to emerge.
