Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green may be competing against each other on “The Voice,” but their playful chemistry is quickly becoming almost as talked about as the Blind Auditions themselves. Clarkson returned for her 11th season as a Coach, while Green is experiencing the competition from a red chair for the first time. Alongside Adam Levine and fellow newcomer Queen Latifah, the two have already found themselves fighting for many of the same Artists.

Clarkson responded by getting out of her chair, putting on a cowboy hat and physically trying to redirect Henley’s attention toward her. She argued that her history of winning “The Voice” with country singers made her an excellent choice, but Green had an even bigger surprise waiting.
After discovering that Henley loved his song “My Way,” Green grabbed a guitar and joined him for an unexpected duet. Henley ultimately chose Team Riley, leaving Clarkson joking that the experience felt like “junior high all over again.”
Moments like that have helped fuel a very different conversation among viewers. Some fans say Clarkson and Green have noticeable chemistry together, while others have gone further and started openly “shipping” the two Coaches.
One viewer compared the way Clarkson and Green looked together in promotional material to the image of a country-music “power couple.” Another joked that they were watching “The Voice” specifically for the Clarkson-Green dynamic.
The comparisons have even brought back memories of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, whose relationship famously developed after they met as Coaches on “The Voice.” Some viewers are now wondering—purely speculatively—whether another unexpected connection could ever emerge from the red chairs.
For now, however, the romance talk is entirely fan speculation. What viewers can actually see on the show is a competitive and playful coaching relationship between Clarkson and Green, particularly when the two are battling for country singers. There has been no announcement that the pair are dating.
