‘The Voice’ Season 30 Overhauls Fan Voting as Real-Time Results and New TikTok Voting Bring Faster Eliminations

“The Voice” is making a major change to the way viewers help determine the winner in Season 30. When the milestone season reaches its Live Shows, fans will vote in real time and learn the results during the very same broadcast.

That is a significant departure from the familiar overnight-voting format. Executive producer Audrey Morrissey confirmed that after the Artists perform, voting will happen live and viewers will find out that night who advances.

Season 30 will feature six weeks of live performances, the longest stretch of Live Shows the competition has offered in five years. Season 29 had no live episodes, making their return particularly notable for longtime viewers.

NBC is also expanding the ways fans can participate. During the Live Shows, viewers will be able to cast votes through SMS text messaging or TikTok, bringing the social-media platform directly into the show’s official voting process.

The faster system means there will be no need to wait until a separate results episode to discover which singers survived. Voting will begin during the live broadcast, and Artists with the lowest vote totals will face elimination that same night.

Another major change should make real-time participation easier across the United States. For the first time, the Live Shows will be simulcast on NBC and Peacock in all U.S. time zones, helping viewers participate while the competition is actually happening.

The audience will begin influencing the competition even before the six-week Live Shows officially start. During Cut Week, each Coach will advance two Artists directly, while five others compete for one additional position on that Coach’s team.

That process will produce a Top 12, but there is another twist. America will then vote one additional Artist into the Live Shows, creating the Top 13 that begins the final live phase of Season 30.

TikTok’s involvement extends beyond voting. The platform has entered a season-long partnership with “The Voice” that includes behind-the-scenes creator access, live companion programming and a special TikTok-themed episode during the Live Shows.

The Live Shows will also include special theme weeks. NBC has announced Dolly Parton Tribute Week, Y2K and TikTok among the themes planned for the six-week run.

Season 30 features Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine returning to the red chairs alongside first-time Coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green. The season also introduces other format changes, including a new First-In Button during the Blind Auditions that can automatically secure an Artist for the Coach who turned first.

“The Voice” Season 30 premieres Monday, September 21, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, beginning a three-night premiere event. With six weeks of Live Shows, same-night results, SMS and TikTok voting and nationwide NBC-Peacock simulcasts, viewers will have a much more immediate role in deciding which Artists survive all the way to the Season 30 winner
