Michael Bublé will be noticeably absent when The Voice returns for its milestone 30th season on September 21, leaving many viewers wondering why one of the show’s most successful recent coaches is stepping away.
Season 30 will feature Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine returning to their familiar red chairs, while country singer Riley Green and Queen Latifah make their coaching debuts. The lineup also marks a return to the traditional four-coach setup after Season 29 experimented with only three coaches.
Bublé’s absence is especially surprising because of how successful he has been since joining the show. He quickly became a fan favorite and established himself as one of the strongest competitors among the coaches.
NBC has not announced that Bublé was fired or permanently left the series, and Bublé himself has not given one definitive reason for sitting out Season 30. That has left fans looking at his schedule for clues.

There is also the demanding schedule that comes with coaching The Voice. The show films in Los Angeles and requires coaches to commit significant time to Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts and later rounds while also mentoring their teams.
Bublé lives in British Columbia with his wife, Luisana Lopilato, and their four children, meaning months of filming in Los Angeles can also take him away from home. While he has not said this caused his Season 30 absence, it is another factor fans have pointed to when discussing his decision.
Season 30 itself appears designed as something of a reset after the experimental Battle of Champions format used for Season 29. The upcoming season returns to four coaches and the familiar competition structure built around Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts and live performances.
NBC is also treating the 30th season as a celebration of the show’s history. Former coaches and mentors are expected to make special appearances, while memorable moments from earlier seasons will be revisited throughout the milestone run.
That means Bublé’s absence from the coaching panel does not necessarily mean viewers have seen the last of him on The Voice. The series has repeatedly rotated coaches between seasons, with stars leaving for one cycle and later returning.
For now, the most likely explanation appears much less dramatic than some fans feared: Michael Bublé has an unusually busy music schedule while The Voice is reshuffling its panel for Season 30. Unless either Bublé or NBC says otherwise, his missing red chair looks more like a break than a permanent goodbye.
