Clay Aiken is officially heading back on the road. More than two decades after becoming a household name on “American Idol,” the singer has announced his first solo tour in 12 years, giving longtime fans another opportunity to hear his unmistakable voice live.
Aiken shared the big news on September 17, revealing that the Rewind 2027 Tour will begin in February. The announcement comes during a major musical comeback for the singer, who has recently returned to recording original material after years away from releasing new pop music.
The tour will support Aiken’s new studio album, which is scheduled for release on September 25. It will be his first full-length album of new original material in nearly two decades and represents a significant new chapter in his recording career.
Aiken has already introduced fans to that chapter with his new single, “Rewind.” Written by Colton Avery and Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Dave Audé, who also produced the track, the song became Aiken’s first new original music in 18 years.
“Rewind” also brought Aiken back to the place where millions of people first discovered him. Earlier this year, he returned to the “American Idol” stage and performed the new song during the Season 24 finale.
His appearance was a full-circle moment more than 20 years after his unforgettable run on Season 2. Aiken finished as runner-up to Ruben Studdard in 2003, but his powerful performances turned him into one of the competition’s biggest early breakout stars.
Success arrived almost immediately after “Idol.” His debut single, “This Is the Night,” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1, while his first album, “Measure of a Man,” also debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and eventually became multi-platinum.
Songs including “Invisible” helped establish Aiken as one of the recognizable pop voices of the early 2000s. His new tour now gives audiences the chance to hear music from that earlier era alongside songs representing the performer he has become today.
Although this is his first solo tour in 12 years, Aiken has not been completely absent from live performances. He reunited with Studdard for their 20th-anniversary tour, an experience that helped remind him how much he missed performing regularly for an audience.
Aiken has also gradually returned to solo performances and other projects. But the Rewind Tour represents something different: a full return built around new original music rather than simply looking back at the songs that first made him famous.
Several 2027 performances have already been announced, including dates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Kentucky. One confirmed stop will bring Aiken to The Newton Theatre in New Jersey on February 28, while additional shows are scheduled throughout early March.
For fans who followed Aiken from “American Idol” through “Measure of a Man” and beyond, the tour offers both nostalgia and something genuinely new.
