The Voice Host Carson Daly Lands Major New NBC Role as His Television Career Enters a New Chapter

Carson Daly 2026 Today Show

Longtime The Voice host Carson Daly has received a major career update as NBC officially announced an expanded role for the television personality. After more than a decade as a familiar face on Today, Daly has been named the permanent co-anchor of Saturday Today. The announcement, made on November 5, marks another important milestone in his broadcasting career as he prepares to take on additional responsibilities while maintaining his existing television commitments.

Daly, 53, will officially begin his new position on Saturday, November 7, joining Laura Jarrett as co-anchor of the weekend morning program. The broadcast team also includes feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman. His appointment means viewers will now see him on Today six days a week, expanding his presence beyond his regular weekday appearances.

The announcement came during Thursday’s Today broadcast, where Daly’s colleagues celebrated his promotion. Savannah Guthrie expressed her excitement about the news, praising his contribution to the morning show and the positive energy he brings to the team. The announcement also highlighted the strong relationships Daly has developed with his fellow presenters throughout his 13 years on the program.

Daly expressed gratitude for the opportunity, explaining that joining the Saturday broadcast represents an important step in his professional development. Although he has worked in television for nearly three decades, he said the chance to continue learning and improving alongside Jarrett makes the position especially meaningful. His comments reflected his enthusiasm for taking on another challenge at this stage of his career.

The new appointment follows several months in which Daly had already been appearing alongside Jarrett as an interim co-anchor. He began filling in on the Saturday program in September, giving viewers an opportunity to see the pair working together before the permanent arrangement was announced. Daly succeeds Peter Alexander, who departed the weekend broadcast in March after spending 22 years with NBC News.

Daly first joined Today in 2013 as the host of the Orange Room, a segment designed to connect the morning program with viewers through digital media and social platforms. Over the years, his responsibilities gradually expanded, and he became a regular member of the weekday team. He is particularly recognized for presenting PopStart, which covers entertainment news, celebrity updates, and developments in popular culture.

Before becoming a prominent figure on Today, Daly had already established himself as a recognizable television host. He rose to fame through MTV’s Total Request Live, which became one of the most influential music programs of the late 1990s and early 2000s. He later hosted Last Call with Carson Daly, a late-night interview series that ran for 18 seasons before concluding in 2019.

For fans of The Voice, Daly’s expanded responsibilities also raise questions about his future with the singing competition. He has hosted the program since its premiere in 2011, guiding contestants through Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, eliminations, and live finales. Despite speculation surrounding his involvement in future seasons, NBC’s November 5 announcement confirmed that Daly will continue hosting and executive-producing the original competition series.

There is, however, a distinction between his responsibilities on the original program and the upcoming celebrity edition. Keke Palmer has been selected to host The Voice: Celebrity, which is scheduled to premiere in spring 2027. Daly previously clarified that he would not host the celebrity-focused edition but would remain involved as an executive producer, helping develop the new version of the franchise behind the scenes.

With his Saturday Today debut approaching, Daly is preparing for one of the busiest chapters of his broadcasting career. His expanded morning-show schedule will place him on television six days a week while he continues his involvement with The Voice and its growing franchise. For viewers who have followed his career from music television to morning news and singing competitions, the promotion represents another significant achievement for one of NBC’s longest-serving entertainment personalities.
