With the release of his new album The High Road on Friday (Jan. 24), Kane Brown sat down with Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul to talk music, family, and a moment that left him both laughing and reflecting.
The conversation turned to Brown’s three children, and the “Good as You” singer lit up at the mention of his kids. When asked if they understood the concept of money and how not everyone is as financially fortunate, Brown shared a story that revealed just how innocent—and hilarious—a child’s perspective can be.
“We were taking [Kingsley] to Disney,” Brown recalled with a smile. “And we told her, ‘Okay, we want you to know this is your birthday present.’”
The singer explained to his 5-year-old daughter that she wouldn’t be receiving any additional gifts for her birthday that year.
“Of course, she ended up getting presents,” he laughed. “Not from me, though—I don’t want her to be spoiled. But yeah, she got some.”
As he tried to offer a gentle life lesson, Brown explained to Kingsley that many people, even adults, never get the opportunity to visit Disney World due to the cost.
That’s when Kingsley hit him with the kind of unfiltered wisdom only a 5-year-old can deliver.
“She just looked at me and said, ‘Why don’t they just sing?’” Brown said, laughing.
With a chuckle and a shrug, he concluded, “It’s having a conversation with a 5-year-old.”
The moment, both sweet and sincere, reflects not only Brown’s approach to parenting, but also his desire to raise grounded kids despite the spotlight. And if Kingsley’s logic holds up, maybe the world just needs a little more music.
