Bryson Quick, a 17-year-old high school senior, quickly captivated the judges of American Idol with his unique take on Pink Floyd’s “Time,” putting a country spin on the classic rock song. His rendition earned him a Golden Ticket to Hollywood and made him one of the standout contestants of the season.

What makes Bryson’s story even more inspiring is his dedication to his younger sister, Kendyll, who has Gilbert’s Syndrome, a rare condition that impacts her motor skills. Despite the challenges Kendyll faces in her day-to-day life, she continues to radiate positivity, and Bryson’s dream of making it on American Idol is motivated by her strength. He’s determined to win the Golden Ticket in her honor, and his performance reflects not just his talent, but his heartfelt desire to make her proud.

During his audition, Bryson’s fresh country twist on the iconic song caught the attention of judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Carrie praised him for finding a way to bring his personality into a song that was outside the country genre, saying, “Your voice stands out in a good way.”

Lionel noted Bryson’s “storyteller voice,” remarking that he was excited by the uniqueness Bryson brought to country music. Luke even compared Bryson to 2021 American Idol winner Chayce Beckham, noting the powerful voice and range he exhibited. The three judges gave him unanimous “heck yahs,” and Bryson was headed to Hollywood.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Luke Bryan, eager to give Bryson a special experience, called up Chayce Beckham, who was performing at the Grand Ole Opry, to ask if Bryson could join him for a duet that very night. Chayce enthusiastically agreed, and Bryson was given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Later that evening, Bryson stood on the iconic stage of the Grand Ole Opry, his first time there, about to perform with Chayce Beckham. Bryson was in awe, having followed Chayce’s American Idol journey and listened to his music on the radio. The two performed “23,” Chayce’s original song that topped the Billboard Country Airplay charts. Bryson reflected on the moment, saying, “When Chayce walked into the room, I couldn’t believe it. And then learning I get to sing a song with him tonight, that was just incredible. Being up there meant the world to me.”

Bryson’s experience is just beginning, and with the support of his family, the judges, and his new Idol family, it’s clear that this talented teen has a bright future ahead in the world of country music.
