Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, is speaking out after the gag order in the Karmelo Anthony case was lifted, delivering an emotional and angry message aimed directly at Anthony’s parents. His comments came just days after Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of Austin during a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas.
Appearing on the JinxedSip podcast, Jeff criticized Anthony’s parents, Kala Hayes and Andrew Anthony, accusing them of failing their son and refusing to take responsibility after the jury’s verdict. The interview quickly drew attention because of how openly he expressed his anger and frustration.
Jeff claimed that Anthony’s parents were not present for key moments after the sentencing, including the victim impact statements, and accused them of leaving their son alone when the case reached its most serious point. He said he believed they had abandoned him after the trial no longer benefited them publicly.
He also criticized the online fundraising efforts that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars after Anthony’s arrest. Jeff accused the family of using the tragedy to collect money and said they should be ashamed of how they handled the aftermath of Austin’s death.
Throughout the interview, Jeff made clear that he believes the real focus should remain on Austin, not on Anthony’s family or public arguments over the case. He said the person who lost his life should not be pushed aside while others try to reframe the story.

The case has remained deeply divided since the beginning, with Anthony’s supporters continuing to argue that he acted in self-defense and did not receive a fair trial. Anthony’s family has also publicly challenged the verdict and raised concerns about the court process.
But Jeff pushed back against those claims, saying the jury heard the evidence and made its decision. He argued that the trial should not be turned into a debate that ignores the fact that Austin never came home from the track meet.
His frustration grew stronger as he accused Anthony’s parents of adding to the racial and political tension surrounding the case. Jeff said he believed the conversation had moved away from Austin’s death and toward public arguments that made the pain even worse.

The interview ended with one of its most heated moments, when Jeff looked into the camera and made a blunt gesture toward Anthony’s parents. The moment quickly spread online, adding another layer of controversy to a case that has not stopped drawing public attention.
Anthony has already started the appeals process, meaning the legal fight is not fully over. But for Austin Metcalf’s family, the trial and sentence have not ended the grief, and Jeff’s latest comments show how raw the pain remains even after the courtroom has gone quiet.
