Country fans were treated to an unforgettable night in Nashville as Carrie Underwood and Dwight Yoakam joined forces on stage during the first night of the CMA Summer Jam at Ascend Amphitheater. The iconic pair wowed the crowd with a powerful performance of Yoakam’s 1993 hit “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere”, and kept the energy going with his classic “Guitars, Cadillacs.”
Carrie took to social media after the show, sharing a photo from their performance and expressing her excitement about the special moment.
“Never in a million years would I have thought I would get to share the stage with someone this cool,” she wrote. “Dwight Yoakam, you are a LEGEND and now, a friend as well! Thank you!”
Underwood wasn’t just there to sing — she made a serious fashion statement, too. Dressed in a glittering outfit by DanielXDiamond, the GRAMMY winner rocked a custom rhinestone-covered cowboy hat, sparkling shorts, and a vintage-inspired jacket that paid tribute to Yoakam’s own past looks.
Her “Howdy, partner…” boomerang on Instagram gave fans a sneak peek at her outfit before the show even began. The look wasn’t just stylish — it was also sustainable. The jacket started as a vintage Levi’s piece, redesigned with DanielXDiamond’s signature rhinestone fringe, and the shorts were topped off with a rare deadstock rhinestone button. Her rhinestoned Alaïa heels and hat alone took over 25 hours to create.
Star-Studded Lineup Lights Up the Night
The first night of CMA Summer Jam was packed with performances by some of country’s biggest names, including Luke Bryan, Mickey Guyton, Carly Pearce, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Cole Swindell, and Lainey Wilson. The second night promises just as much excitement, with stars like Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line, and Thomas Rhett set to take the stage.
Coming to TV Soon
Both nights of the CMA Summer Jam are being recorded for a special TV broadcast on ABC, so fans who couldn’t make it to Nashville will still get to experience the magic.
Even better? A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the CMA Foundation, which has been working since 2011 to support music education across the U.S., helping ensure students have access to quality music programs.
