Superstar on stage, homesteader at heart — Carrie Underwood has found her ultimate peace far from the flashing lights of Nashville, embracing the simple joys of farm life with her family.
Raised on a farm in Oklahoma, the country music icon has come full circle, transforming her sprawling 400-acre property in Franklin, Tennessee, into a thriving homestead. With her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher, and their two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, Carrie lives a life rooted in family, faith, and sustainability.
A Dream Built on Soil and Sunshine
Purchased in 2011, their custom-built estate includes everything from horse stables to rolling hills, a sparkling lake, and now an expansive orchard and greenhouse. Carrie has often called her garden her “happy place,” where she finds clarity, joy, and reflection.
In 2023, she partnered with Epic Gardening to install a stunning greenhouse filled with citrus trees, herbs, and rows of seedlings. Just outside, her flock of chickens roams freely, supplying fresh eggs daily. Their land also bursts with apples, peaches, blueberries, and blackberries — the true definition of farm-to-table.
The Farm Life Grows Deeper

Her love for sustainable living isn’t a hobby — it’s a lifestyle. Carrie proudly tends to nearly 30–35 tomato plants, including over 25 unique heirloom varieties, alongside squash, onions, beans, and peppers. In 2020, Mike surprised her with two cows — lovingly named Brownie and Oreo by their son Isaiah — adding to their growing family of animals.
Waste doesn’t exist on the farm. Table scraps feed the chickens, and the rest is composted. “It’s all fun. It feels good to physically do all these things,” Carrie shares. Her family now eats almost exclusively from their land — produce from the garden, eggs from their coop, and meat from Mike’s hunting.
A Forever Home Anchored in Faith
Their farmhouse dream became reality in 2018 — complete with a wood-burning fireplace, porch swing, and rocking chairs. The move followed a frightening fall that required more than 40 stitches to Carrie’s face, prompting a desire for greater privacy and security.
The couple’s journey hasn’t been without heartache. Carrie openly spoke about experiencing multiple miscarriages before the birth of their second son. Through it all, her faith has remained the cornerstone of her life — guiding her toward a quieter, more intentional way of living.
“Grow Something from Nothing”
Carrie continues to deepen her knowledge of gardening through books, podcasts, and hands-on trial and error. “A lot of it comes down to just paying attention,” she says. Her goal? To one day stop grocery shopping altogether.
Surrounded by laughter, love, and the rhythms of nature, Carrie Underwood has crafted a life that feeds both body and soul. Beneath the Tennessee skies, the girl who once sang her way from small-town Oklahoma to global stardom has rediscovered something even sweeter: the simple, sacred joy of home.
