Guy Kelton Jones Turns AGT Stage Into Spoken Word Moment Simon Cowell Rated 11/10

Guy Kelton Jones did not walk onto the America’s Got Talent stage with a typical audition. He brought spoken word, performance art, and soul into a room that suddenly became very quiet.

The New York-based artist appeared on AGT Season 21 and performed a powerful original spoken word piece that immediately shifted the energy in the theater. Instead of relying on music, tricks, or spectacle, he stood in front of the judges and let the words carry the moment.

His performance stood out because spoken word is not always an easy fit for a talent competition stage. It depends on rhythm, emotion, timing, and whether the audience is willing to listen closely.

That is exactly what happened. As Guy moved through the piece, the room became locked in, with the audience reacting not only to the delivery but to the feeling behind every line.

By the end, the judges were visibly impressed. Simon Cowell went beyond the usual rating scale and gave the performance an “11/10,” a reaction that instantly made the audition one of the most talked-about moments from the episode.

The performance introduced many AGT viewers to Guy for the first time, but his journey started long before that stage. According to his biography, he began performing poetry when he was just 4 years old and started writing soon after.

By the age of 8, he had moved into musical theater. That early combination of poetry, performance, and singing helped shape the artist fans saw on AGT.

Over time, Guy turned those childhood gifts into a global creative path. He has traveled, performed, written, and collaborated with artists across different parts of the world.

His work has connected him with respected names in music and spoken word, including The Floacist of Floetry, Fantastic Negrito, Talib Kweli, Saul Williams, and others.

That background helps explain why his AGT audition felt so controlled. He was not simply reciting words; he was performing with years of stage experience behind him.

Guy’s official social media describes him as a spoken word artist, soul singer, and performance artist connected to New York, London, and Italy. He has also promoted work tied to “The Midnight Sermon,” showing that his art reaches beyond one television appearance.

In 2024, King’s College London Student Union highlighted him as a U.S. poet and spoken word artist touring in Europe with “The Midnight Sermon Live,” a show created with the band The Gorgeous Blvck.

That international experience gave his AGT moment a deeper context. Viewers may have seen a new face, but the artist onstage had already spent years building a voice, a message, and a way of performing that felt completely his own.

The reaction online shows that his audition reached people who may not usually follow spoken word. Many fans praised him for proving that poetry can still command a huge stage when the delivery is honest and powerful.

For Guy Kelton Jones, AGT may become the breakthrough that brings his work to a much wider audience. But the truth is, the moment Simon Cowell called it an 11/10 was not the beginning of his story — it was the result of a journey that started with a child performing poetry and grew into an artist finally being heard by millions.
