Ferryn and Brinkley Wright made an unforgettable entrance on “The Voice” Season 30. The sisters from Sevierville, Tennessee, became the first act of the season to earn a four-chair turn, getting Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green to turn for them.
Ferryn is 20 years old, while her younger sister Brinkley is 17. Despite their young ages, the pair already had considerable experience singing together before stepping onto one of television’s biggest stages.
Music has actually been part of their relationship since childhood. Brinkley revealed that their father built them a small stage when they were young, complete with a karaoke machine and microphone. The sisters would perform there while pretending they were contestants on “The Voice.”
Years later, that childhood game became reality. For their Blind Audition, Ferryn and Brinkley chose “When Will I Be Loved,” performing the Linda Ronstadt-associated country classic with the close harmonies that have become central to their sound.
Their strategy was clever. The sisters hoped the Coaches would initially hear one voice before being surprised when the harmony revealed there were actually two singers onstage. Clarkson and Latifah turned quickly once the harmonies arrived, followed later by Levine and Green.
But their hometown makes their story particularly special. Ferryn and Brinkley come from Sevierville, Tennessee—the hometown of Dolly Parton—and their connection to the country legend extends much further than simply growing up in the same place.
Both sisters work as performers at Dollywood. That gave them valuable experience entertaining live audiences before “The Voice,” while also placing them inside the musical world created by one of East Tennessee’s most famous Artists.
Ferryn had an especially memorable experience with Parton. She revealed that she had the opportunity to sing onstage with Dolly, while both sisters also participated in a parade alongside the country icon. Ferryn described being around Parton as an honor and said East Tennessee would never be the same following her death.
Their audition quickly turned into one of the premiere’s biggest coaching battles. Latifah praised how naturally their voices blended, while Levine focused on the chemistry he saw between the sisters once his chair turned.
Clarkson had an impressive argument of her own. She reminded Ferryn and Brinkley that she coached Girl Named Tom, the sibling trio that became the first group to win “The Voice.” Clarkson believed the Wright sisters could similarly take songs from outside country music and transform them through their harmonies.
Riley Green, however, connected strongly with their old-school country sound. He said their performance reminded him of listening to the music his grandparents loved and argued that the traditional style the sisters possess is finding a new audience.
In the end, Ferryn and Brinkley chose Team Riley. Green immediately recognized the advantage their harmonies could give his team. For two sisters who once stood on a homemade stage pretending to compete on “The Voice,” becoming Season 30’s first four-chair turn brought their childhood dream full circle—and their Dollywood history makes their journey even more meaningful.
