‘The Voice’ Season 30 Brings Back Six Weeks of Live Shows — With Major Schedule, Streaming and Voting Changes

“The Voice” is making its milestone 30th season feel much bigger by bringing back something longtime viewers have been missing: a substantial run of Live Shows. NBC has confirmed that Season 30 will feature six weeks of live performances, putting viewers back at the center of the competition.

The change is particularly noticeable after Season 29. That season was completely prerecorded and did not feature the traditional run of Live Shows, while recent seasons had also reduced the amount of live competition. Season 30 is reversing that direction in a major way.

Before reaching the Lives, however, viewers have plenty of competition ahead. Season 30 began September 21 with a two-hour premiere and continues with Blind Audition episodes on September 22 and September 23, creating a special three-night premiere event.

After premiere week, the Blind Auditions continue, followed by the later stages of the competition. Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine are back as veteran Coaches, while Queen Latifah and Riley Green are experiencing the competition from the red chairs for the first time.

One of the biggest changes arrives with Cut Week. Each Coach will send two Artists directly into the Live Shows, while five additional Artists on each team compete for one remaining position. That process creates a Top 12.

America then gets involved before the regular Live Shows even begin. Viewers will vote one additional Artist into the competition, completing the Top 13 that advances into the six-week live portion.

Once those Live Shows begin, the schedule will include several special Theme Weeks. NBC has already announced Dolly Parton Tribute Week, Y2K and TikTok among the themes planned for the season. Special guest appearances are also expected throughout the six-week run.

There is another major change for viewers who prefer streaming. For the first time, the Live Shows will be simulcast on both NBC and Peacock in all U.S. time zones, rather than Peacock viewers simply having to wait for next-day access.

That streaming change is particularly important because Season 30 is introducing a much more immediate voting experience. Fans will once again have meaningful control over which Artists survive as the competition moves toward its finale.

NBC has also introduced new ways to participate. Voting during the Lives will include SMS text messaging and TikTok, and results will be revealed the same night, making the process considerably faster than the traditional overnight voting format.

The expanded live portion represents a major shift from the direction “The Voice” had taken recently. Executive producer Audrey Morrissey described Season 30 as something of a “full circle” moment, with the show returning to the live competition that played such an important role in its earlier years.

Between six weeks of Live Shows, real-time fan participation, themed episodes and simultaneous NBC and Peacock broadcasts, Season 30 is putting considerably more emphasis on viewers experiencing the competition together. For fans who have been asking for more live performances and more opportunities to vote, the milestone season is bringing both back in a big way.
