Snowbird Brown is speaking out after the death of her brother, Matt Brown, sharing an emotional update with fans as the Brown family continues to grieve one of the most painful losses they have faced. In a video shared on Instagram, the former Alaskan Bush People star thanked supporters for the prayers, condolences, and kind messages sent to her family.
Snowbird said that by now, many fans know her family is going through a tragedy after Matt’s passing. She explained that the support from viewers and longtime followers has meant a lot during a time when the family is still trying to process what happened.
The 31-year-old also said she has not been spending much time online since the news broke. Instead, she has been taking time for herself and for her loved ones, saying that everyone needs space sometimes, especially when dealing with grief.
Snowbird made it clear that the loss has affected the entire Brown family, but she said it has been especially hard on her mother, Ami Brown. According to Snowbird, Ami is taking the loss very deeply, as any mother would after losing a child.

During the video, Snowbird also shared a thoughtful message about grief and how differently people experience it. She reminded followers that there is no single correct way to mourn and that nobody should be judged for showing too much emotion, too little emotion, or processing pain privately.
Snowbird said she takes some comfort in believing Matt is no longer suffering. She spoke about her brother’s struggles with compassion and said she believes he is now in a better place, while encouraging the family to remember the good memories they shared with him.
She also gave fans an update on funeral plans, explaining that arrangements are still being worked out. Nothing has been fully set yet because the family is trying to make sure people who want to attend have enough time to be there.

Although some family members may choose to share parts of the service publicly, Snowbird said she does not think she will personally document the funeral. She explained that funerals are already difficult enough without adding the pressure of recording or posting during such a private moment.
Matt Brown’s death was confirmed by his brother Bear Brown, and his brother Noah Brown was also involved in identifying him. Matt was 43 years old, and his passing has left fans of Alaskan Bush People mourning alongside the family who first became known through the Discovery Channel series.
The Brown family rose to fame through Alaskan Bush People, which followed Ami Brown, the late Billy Brown, and their seven children as they lived in remote areas of Alaska and Washington. Now, years after Matt stepped away from the show, his family is asking for space, prayers, and understanding as they remember him and try to move forward through grief.
