The couple announced on Thursday, May 22, that they are expecting their second child this fall. The sweet reveal came via social media, where they posted a series of adorable family photos. In the images, Scotty and Gabi wear matching white t-shirts and jeans, while their 2½-year-old son Avery proudly dons a sweatshirt that reads: “Big Brother.”
“A new best friend coming this fall,” they captioned the post, melting hearts across the internet.
A Love Story Rooted in North Carolina
Scotty and Gabi, who first began dating as teenagers, tied the knot on June 16, 2018, after six years together. The couple said “I do” in a picturesque ceremony in the mountains of North Carolina, Scotty’s home state.
Their relationship — and the proposal — were famously immortalized in Scotty’s heartfelt song “This Is It.”
The McCreerys welcomed their first child, Merrick Avery, in 2022. Their son, affectionately called Avery, was named after Gabi’s father, Merrick Dugal.
New Music & Milestones
The baby announcement comes on the heels of a major musical moment for Scotty. Earlier this month, he teamed up with Hootie & the Blowfish for a nostalgic and genre-blending track titled “Bottle Rockets.” The song features a fresh twist on the band’s iconic 1994 hit “Hold My Hand.”
“It’s not a sample,” Scotty said. “Hootie & the Blowfish — all the guys — went back into the studio and re-recorded their parts for ‘Bottle Rockets’. That’s one of my favorite things about it.”
The collaboration, which was sparked by McCreery reaching out to longtime friend Darius Rucker, has quickly become a fan favorite and showcases Scotty’s continued evolution as an artist.
