Cade Mower needed only a few seconds to turn his Blind Audition into one of the biggest moments of The Voice Season 30. The 35-year-old Utah singer walked onto the stage with an acoustic guitar, started singing Zach Bryan’s “Something in the Orange,” and almost immediately had every coach fighting for him.
Adam Levine reacted first — and he didn’t need much convincing. Roughly three seconds after Cade began singing, Adam hit his button. Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah followed almost immediately, and Riley Green completed the four-chair turn before Cade had even finished the second line of the song.
That speed made the audition especially memorable. Cade hadn’t needed a huge final note or a dramatic vocal run to convince the coaches. His raspy tone and emotional delivery had already told them enough.
But once Cade finished, the coaches discovered something else surprising about him: music isn’t even his only career.
Kelly asked what the 35-year-old had been doing before The Voice, and Cade revealed that he currently works in finance. Kelly immediately joked about being shocked that a “finance bro” could have a voice like his.
Cade explained that his life has become a balancing act between three major responsibilities — working in finance, pursuing music, and being a husband and father.
His family is an especially important part of his story. Cade is married and has two young children, and his family even joined him onstage during the Blind Audition after all four coaches turned.
The audition might have looked like an overnight breakthrough, but Cade has actually been chasing music for decades.
He first picked up a guitar when he was around 12 years old, eventually performing in different music scenes, including time around Austin, before making the much bigger decision to pursue his career in Nashville.
Cade grew up in Bluffdale, Utah, but has been based in Nashville for roughly three years. He has spoken openly about believing that musicians have to earn their place there by working just as hard as the artists who came before them.
His music also goes well beyond straightforward modern country. Cade has described his sound as a mixture of country, blues, southern rock and soul, with influences ranging from Merle Haggard and Eric Clapton to Led Zeppelin.
Long before viewers discovered him on The Voice, Cade had already released a significant amount of original music. His catalog includes the 2024 Firehouse Sessions Live EP and the 12-song 2025 album Soul Work, along with several singles.
One recording in particular had already attracted attention. Cade’s cover of Whiskey Myers’ “Broken Window Serenade” passed 300,000 Spotify streams, while his original song “Moroni,” inspired by the area where he grew up, also built a strong online following.
Back on The Voice, Adam tried to convince Cade that an unexpected coach-artist pairing could actually work in his favor, while Kelly emphasized her experience navigating singing competitions and developing artists across different genres.
But Riley Green had perhaps the most personal pitch. He told Cade he could imagine him joining him on tour with an acoustic guitar, praised his songwriting instincts, and made it clear that he was already a fan.
In the end, Cade chose Team Riley, giving the first-time coach one of the biggest four-chair victories of the Blind Auditions. After years of balancing finance, family and a music career that began with a guitar at 12, Cade suddenly has his biggest platform yet — and his almost-instant four-chair turn suggests the coaches believe there could be much more to come.
