Phil Robertson, the beloved patriarch of Duck Dynasty and founder of Duck Commander, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25. He was 79.
Though the world knew him for his fearless presence and trademark beard, his family remembers him as a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and unshakable love.
From Duck Calls to a Global Faith Movement
Robertson rose to national fame through A&E’s Duck Dynasty (2012–2017), which followed his Louisiana-based duck call business. But behind the humor and hunting was a powerful message: a family bonded by faith.
After the show, Phil continued his ministry through podcasts and media appearances. In late 2024, he stepped away from the Unashamed podcast due to health challenges. In December, sons Al and Jase revealed he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and a blood disorder.
By May 2025, they shared that Phil was “getting ready for the journey to the other side.”
“A Life Saved by Grace”
The Robertson family’s public statement read:
“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus.”
Remembering “Papaw Phil”
The family offered heartfelt tributes, each reflecting a personal side of Phil’s legacy.
Sadie Robertson Huff shared:
“It was his testimony that changed our family’s life and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. One of the last things he said to me was, ‘Full strength ahead!’”
Christian Huff posted photos from duck hunts:
“There truly was no one like you. I’ll keep working hard to blow a duck call you’d approve of!”
Rebecca Robertson recalled a final conversation about food and faith:
“Papaw Phil’s love for Jesus and Mamaw Kay was a reflection of Christ’s love itself.”
Uncle Si, Phil’s brother, posted a photo and simply shared the family’s statement — letting the silence speak volumes.
Bella Robertson wrote:
“My papaw Phil is now where he always longed to be — with God, his Father.”
Mia Robertson said:
“His love wasn’t loud — it was in his actions. He led with the heart of the Father.”
A Legacy That Lives On
Phil Robertson never chased fame — he pursued faith. His passion for sharing the Gospel and protecting his family left an imprint far beyond television. His voice may be quiet now, but his story continues in every life he touched and every soul he pointed to Christ.
He was a man who lived what he preached — and that legacy endures.
