Brandy Neelly’s journey on The Voice Season 30 may have ended much earlier than she hoped, but the 31-year-old country singer is already looking toward what comes next.
The Nashville-based performer became the first artist eliminated during the Season 30 Battle Rounds after Coach Riley Green paired her against sister duo Ferryn and Brinkley Wright.
The three performers took on Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart” after rehearsing with Riley and his Battle advisor Carly Pearce.
Riley admitted the decision was difficult, praising Brandy’s strong solo performance while also pointing to Ferryn and Brinkley’s unusually tight sibling harmonies.
In the end, he chose the sisters to advance, explaining that their status as the competition’s only duo and the combination of their individual voices and harmonies gave them an interesting advantage moving forward.
The result immediately sparked debate among viewers.
Some fans felt Brandy faced an especially difficult situation because she was competing alone against two sisters who had spent years developing their sound together.

Even Kelly Clarkson acknowledged during the Battle that competing against an established harmony duo was challenging, while still praising Brandy for managing to stand out during the performance.
Brandy, however, has not responded by criticizing Riley’s decision.
Instead, she thanked Riley for believing in her and expressed gratitude to The Voice for allowing her to perform on such a major stage.
She also thanked viewers for their support and focused on the friendships and opportunities she gained during the competition.
And now, Brandy is making it clear that her elimination is not the end of her music career.
In a new interview, she revealed that she plans to release substantially more original music for the new listeners who discovered her through The Voice.
Brandy has already written and released music independently, but she now hopes to take advantage of the larger audience the show introduced her to.
She said the response to her performances has been overwhelming in the best possible way and that she is excited to discover which stage she will perform on next.
Brandy is also working with producer Dylan Guthro, who has production credits connected to country singer Walker Hayes, as she prepares her next material.

But music isn’t the only creative career Brandy plans to continue.
Before The Voice, she developed an unexpected second business decorating custom cakes in Nashville.
What started when a friend asked her to make a birthday cake quickly expanded through word of mouth, with more people beginning to place orders.
The business eventually produced a remarkable connection to her future Voice coach.
Someone from Riley Green’s team previously contacted Brandy and asked her to make a cake for Riley’s birthday.
Then, years later, Brandy stepped onto The Voice stage and saw Riley sitting in one of the red chairs.
That unusual connection became a memorable part of her Blind Audition after she reminded Riley that she had been the person behind his birthday cake.
Brandy earned chair turns from both Riley and Queen Latifah with her performance of Jo Dee Messina’s “Lesson in Leavin’,” but ultimately chose Riley because she wanted to stay close to her country roots.
Now, even after being eliminated from his team, Brandy has no intention of abandoning either of her creative paths.
She plans to continue decorating cakes while using the income and flexibility from that business to support her music.
She even joked that if any other celebrities need a cake, she is available — and told Carly Pearce she would happily make one for her as well.
For Brandy, that means her post-Voice chapter isn’t really a dramatic career change.
It is more of an expansion.
She plans to keep writing, recording and performing country music while continuing the side business that unexpectedly connected her to Riley Green before she ever joined his team.
Her time on The Voice lasted only through the first Battle, but Brandy appears determined to make sure that is only one small part of a much longer story.
And with new music already being planned and a larger audience now following her journey, she believes the next stage could be much bigger than the one she just left behind.
