Jamal Roberts’ story is the kind that really sticks with you — a gym teacher by day, powerhouse vocalist by night. The way he’s balancing his role as a dad, teacher, and now rising star on American Idol is seriously inspiring.
His song choices show so much heart and range. From Rick James’ funky groove to Anthony Hamilton’s soulful storytelling, and then jumping into Chris Stapleton’s bluesy ballad? That’s not easy to pull off. But Jamal did it with style and sincerity.
It’s also really cool how the judges are clearly rooting for him. Lionel calling his voice a “gift,” and Carrie reminding him to believe in himself — that kind of support from legends can light a fire in someone. And it shows, because he keeps leveling up with every round.
Plus, the fact that he’s already been on Sunday Best and made it to the Top 3 proves he’s not new to the grind — he’s been putting in the work for years.
His daughters, Harmoni and Lyrik, must be so proud seeing their dad shine like this. What a beautiful example he’s setting — chasing his dream while staying grounded in family and community.
